Coachella, Lollapalooza, Burning Man, Glastonbury, Sziget – this special season of the year has begun and we are so looking forward to our favorite music festivals. During the last years festivals like Coachella have become the catwalk of the summer showing gorgeous and crazy fashion street styles. Our favorite bloggers spread the word via social media and finally those looks influence each summer’s fashion. That’s why we A) don’t want to miss new trends and styles B) have to prepare our wardrobe and C) make sure that our new garments can be worn throughout summer. But, there is still plenty of time to get the sewing machines started!

A cute outfit to choose when the weather is hot are shorts and shirt in matching patterns. Pick BurdaStyle’s pleated shorts and a cropped blouse and try to find fabric with a trendy pattern like palm leaves, eyes or flowers all-over. Top your style off with light booties, a matching saddle bag and the obligatory stylish sunglasses. Eventually you can add some glamour by wearing gorgeous body jewelry!
The more “boho”, the better! Maxi skirts are always a good basis to create festival outfits. For a hippie look, take this cute pattern for a veste and sew this maxi skirt. We chose eye-themed accessories to go with it (necklace and a phone bag), round sun glasses and a tassel bag…
Not all festivals are blessed with sunny weather. Glastonbury in England for example can be really muddy. So you have to prepare and leave your silky dresses at home. Wear an oversized shirt over jeans shorts like Ellie Goulding did last year. To be save from mud, gumboots also make sense. Pack your Hunters, a biker backpack, round sunglasses and a cute, matching brooch to be perfectly prepared for whatever the weather conditions will be like.
Slitted dresses and skirts are a total must-wear this season. This outfit can be recreated with a pattern for a maxi skirt and a bustier crop top. Chokers are still so on trend this summer. Add boots, aviator sunglasses and dance through day and night!
Again, the proof: Slitted dresses or shall we say “dress capes” are a thing! Luckily we are able to sew one for ourselves by altering a dress pattern very easily: Just cut the front side in half! Take this cap sleeve maxi dress and if you are not shy, add a long slit and wear a black body suit underneath. The outfit can be topped off with gladiator wedges, sunglasses with a metal bridge, a cute cross-body bag and tassel earrings.
Model Trese San did it right: She wore a comfy yet stylish outfit at the Lovebox Festival in London. To create your own look, take this jumpsuit pattern and find a nice allover print to match the festival vibe. Accessories could be a turban headband, all-time favorite chucks, sunglasses and a casual leather backpack.
What is your favorite look? Are you planning to go to one of these festivals?
