An Introduction to The BurdaStyle Sewing Handbook

November 1st marked the release of our very first publication, The BurdaStyle Sewing Handbook! We are spending the week eagerly preparing for our official book launch party this Thursday at Housing Works in New York and are excited to meet new faces, connect with old friends and spend an evening sharing the love of sewing and DIY.

In honor of our book release, we had videographer and media producer Dan Delaney create an introductory video featuring BurdaStyle co-founder Nora Abousteit and creative director Alison Kelly. We were so excited to be a part of the new national sewing television show It’s Sew Easy and we were even more excited that our own BurdaStyle Ambassador Gretchen Hirsch was invited to host a segment using our Linda Skirt as her on-air project! Spoonflower Goes to New York Fashion Week

To say that we are merely fans of Spoonflower might be a bit of an understatement. The fact that we can make our wildest fabric dreams come true through their custom printing services gets us just as hot and bothered as a load of new sewing patterns or a split-second flash of inspiration. However, we’re not the only ones showing one of our favorite fabric creators some love, designer Malan Breton used custom printed fabric from Spoonflower to create garments for his spring 2012 runway show during New York Fashion week and we hope that this is just the beginning of designers taking advantage of the amazing range of possibilities Spoonflower provides!
