Here in the States, most of us will be heading off for the 4th of July weekend – whether to another city, a beautiful beach or just hanging out in our own backyards. While you may not be taking a long weekend holiday just yet, chances are you will get away at least once (hopefully more!) this summer so I made a list of the pieces you’ll need to make before you head out of town. Whether it’s a big adventure in a new city, a sun-soaked weekend on a beach or a relaxing country getaway, find the projects and patterns you need to make for your vacation destination!

Beach Getaway:

A fun swimsuit, chic cover-up and a pair of flip flops are really all you need for a tropical vacation. Toss in a floaty dress and comfy pants to round out you beach look. No muss, no fuss.

Patterns from left: Caftan with Ties, Drawstring Pants, Drape Dress, Jessica Bikini, Long Tank, Drawstring Shorts.

Weekend in the City:

I’m heading off to the Windy City (Chicago) for the 4th and have packed my bag with the essentials: chic shorts, loose and breezy tops and a couple of stand-out pieces (including one killer dress) for a serious night on the town.

Patterns from left: Flounce Blouse, Shorts with Wide Waistband, Embellished Jacket, Cocktail Dress, Mini Skirt.

Country Escape:

This vacation is all about relaxation, so make up some pieces that are equal parts pretty and comfortable. Easy tunics, pants and a pair of kick-around boots should have you set.

Patterns from left: Drawstring Dress, Cropped Pants, Hooded Parka, Bib Tunic Blouse, Drawstring Skirt.

Where are you headed off to this Summer? What are you making (or have you already made) for your vacation getaway?

You’re breaking my heart. I just went on a 10-day vacation, and the airline delivered my suitcase.. on the evening of day 9. So much for carefully-planned outfits. I went to the local supermarket and bought some stuff. Luckily, I had my hiking boots with me, so I could do what I was there for. And even more luckily, nobody had a camera :-).

American Airlines left my bag at the airport during a trip to San Francisco. Luckily they got it to me the next day but I feel your pain!

The red, white and blue ensembles would work nicely for today’s celebration of Independence Day here in the U.S.A. The white/blue top would be especially comfortable and it’s so stylish.

Hi, any chance you could tell me who makes the dark blue dress that the girl with the red boots is wearing (in the “country” pictures) ? Thank you.

First I’m going to the army : no clothes needed, they lend it all. Then, I’m going to work on a farm: country clothes it is! But what is really missing is an OVERALL pattern!

Hm, no overalls patterns to be found. How about a jumpsuit/coverall?

Ha, I was just thinking about coming up with something stylish, for gardening! Since that is the only thing I’m doing lately beside home improvement. But a cool overall would work for both:) Take care, be safe and thanks for being so brave!
