This new children’s sewing pattern collection from burda style magazine’s May 2013 is so much fun! These summer styles are all easy to sew, and even easier to wear! Your little ones will look adorable in all these bright fashions.

Slip into this and enjoy the warm weather! This neon Jumpsuit is made from cuddly soft jersey. The harem style bottoms and casual, straight cut make them really comfy to wear. Cute details include the swimsuit neckline and elasticated ankles.

Cute and loose, in trendy melon color. This adorable princess Dress has short bell sleeves. The neck band is embroidered and the empire seam is accented with a braided belt.

Here is a Dress that looks like it’s a two-piece! It has a lovely neck ruffle and waist casing that gives it shape. The result is the perfect summer dress for all occasions.

This loose Top is airy with wing flounce sleevelets and bows that all little girl’s adore. When you’ve sewn it, dip it in silk fabric paint for a lovely color gradation effect. We love it paired with these little jersey Harem Pants that are so comfy and allow for freedom of movement. It is also worn with a dangling dyed cord belt.

This flared Tunic is really pretty and airy, with its long puffed sleeves. The V-neck is decorated with embroidered flowers and beads.

Happy Sewing!

I need to do more garment sewing for children, especially since I’ve a 2-year-old niece who’s a fashionista already. Love clothes and pink, pink, pink. It’s economical to sew for kids too. Takes a lot less fabric and sews up lightening quick. What’s more, you can test out new techniques – smocking, gathering, and use up scrap trim on pockets, necklines, etc. Finally, if you use a metallic fabric, you’re sure to sew up a winner that will be well-loved.

Love them all (although last shirt the split is just a little too long – perhaps a tie ribbon at the top will be needed). I love the jumpsuit and harem pants – these pattern will be getting a work out from me. The kids patterns have been outstanding the past few issues! Now to find the time to make them all!
