Well, based on what I’ve read here, I’ve wasted my time looking for something to tell me how to download those patterns. I have now requested a refund on my subscription, but based on what I’ve seen here, probably won’t get it. I won’t renew and am also spreading the word to avoid the deceptive magazine. I just noticed the dates! Wow! I got mine April 14th! What gives?!?!

So, what’s the deal with the downloadable patterns in the Spring issue? I’ve wasted over an hour now trying different things wondering if it is me, and I don’t see any answers to the questions below about the download codes. How about some words from the BURDA STYLE admins? Or if I’m just missing something obvious, please let me (and the others) know.

You have to pay for them. According to Denise, this is unavoidable, which is interesting, since it was possible for the Winter issue. I want to cancel my subscription, but can’t get anyone to respond to my request. So, if ANYONE is thinking about signing up for the magazine…RUN AWAY! Don’t fall for the Burda bait-and-switch!

I hate to be a Debbie Downer but I subscribed in December and I was SO EXCITED. Now I still have not received a hard copy for Spring. I think it is bad form for a magazine to hit the news stands BEFORE their subscriber receive a copy. I emailed the subscription dept over a week ago and no one has responded. I don’t know if I’ll be resubscribing if the customer service is this inconsistent. Makes me wonder if I could just get a refund. Is anyone else waiting for their copy in the mail?

It’s March 12, and I’m having the same problem. I don’t see any response here – or anywhere. Have you gotten a private reply to you question? If so, please let us know what is going on – if not – very bad form Burda Style.

Very disappointed that the digital patterns are not free this time as in the last issue (yet the price of the magazine remained the same). Would caution anyone looking at the current issue to check that the patterns you’re most interested in are on the pattern insert; if not, you’re probably better off just purchasing the digital pattern and directions. Next time, I’ll be sure to look for the words “free download” in the pattern instructions before I purchase another issue, especially if the price of the magazine isn’t adjusted.

Hi I am looking for the codes for the SPRING 2014 Issue. Those codes are not printed under the pattern number only the bit.ly link to go to and its still requesting $5.99 for the download. Are those codes in the magazine somewhere?

I subscribed to this in December and have not yet received either the Winter or Spring issue. I tried to follow up on the subscription service website (InterWeave), but BurdaStyle is not even an option under their “Contact Us” menu. Who can I follow up with to ensure that I actually receive the issues that I paid for?

WARNING! DOES NOT include the downloadable patterns! Several of us have checked with BurdaStyle now and the downloadable patterns are not included with the digital version of the magazine even though the cover clearly says “+23 more styles to download”. The magazine only has updated instructions to the downloable patterns and you still have to pay to buy each pattern with no discount. I have no idea whether the hard copy includes the downloadable patterns. If you find out, please let us know.

No, it doesn’t. Very disappointed in the mag this issue, especially since the price remains the same as the first. I noticed the first issue actually used the words “free download” in the instruction section before the url. It doesn’t say that this time.

I’m sure this collection was offered last spring in the UK edition. I’m a little confused…

I am having the same issue- when I go to the url in the magazine it shows me the pattern but it’s not a free download. Also, can’t you just have a page on the website with all the links on them to save me typing them all in?

I queried Burdastyle and the “+23 more styles to download” you have to pay extra/separately for. Completely misleading IMO!!

I cannot tell from the 2nd and 3rd preview photos if any of the styles are for Plus. Someone will have to chime in which patterns are sized for Plus.

@dcollins45-Thanks for your answer! Helps to know Plus is in the magazine.

Yes, we’ve got a full fashion spread of plus-size patterns in every issue of the magazine! And this will continue with each issue.

      Happy Sewing!

You’re right. The digital copy has all of the exact same content as the hard copy. It’s a PDF of every page of the magazine, plus PDFs of the pattern insert sheets.

The codes for the last issue were printed in the project instructions pages just under the pattern number and title.

There’s no code for the downloadable patterns in the spring issue. Within the “Project Instructions” pages, under each downloadable pattern, you’ll see a bit.ly link that will take you directly to the pattern on BurdaStyle.com.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

The primary difference between the US and International editions is presentation. The US edition uses patterns from the international edition, but the printing is of a higher quality, making the printed patterns in particular easier to use. The instructions have been rewritten for the US market. Apparently the first edition had some mistakes, but I imagine the team publishing it has learned from those mistakes, and that this issue will be even better.
