How many of you have read the book (or seen the film) The Devil Wears Prada? Meryl Streep makes quite a fascinating Anna Wintour, though I’d have to say The Hours is one of my favorite Meryl roles, as Clarissa Vaughan, but I’m rambling. Are you ready for your next LBD or the perfect 40s-cut skirt? Read on…

The looks:

High-waist Secretary Skirt, with the Blouse with Front Slit.

V-neck LBD

Sheer Black Blouse

Little Black Tunic

Batiste Sports Coat

Dress with Pelerine

Strapless Gathered LBD

I love the LBD with the front slit! Such a easy, “go to” dress for every day or occasions. I am going to make this for sure, lengthening the skirt a bit (I like the length the model in black has it) and closing up the front slit opening some. I can see making this in a drapey knit fabric as well as a sueded silk, silk charmeuse or silk crepe in black, great solid colors or prints.

I made the front slit blouse; cream fabric for the back and sleeves, orange for the front . It makes a great casual color block top. http://www.sewtawdry.blogspot.com/2012/04/color-color-color.html Though it is a bit looser (wearing ease in pattern) in the waist than the tops I typically wear. I wear it loose over very slim bottoms. It is a lot of fabric to be tucking into a pencil skirt waist.

Oh, not more black! I look absolutely dead in black! These would look great in jewel tones, too!

I bought my first magazine in over a year precisely for these patterns, they look gorgeous. I’m going to need a professional wardrobe soon. I wish they didn’t have the feature in black though, it would be nice to see more details of the garments in the pictures…

These are all really nice, it seems Burda patterns are back on track, yay. It would be great if you could also mention which issue these patterns are from when you post them.

I love how it’s all black. Simple and lovely. Then again, everything looks great on the tall and graceful ones.

I have to say I think Burdastyle did good with this one – I am in love with all these designs (the dress with the mini poncho is so oddly fabulous), though while black is oh so chic, I think I might add a wee but more color!
