Pantone named emerald the color of 2013. We could not be more thrilled! It is a lovely color and was seen on many recent fashion runways. Pantone describes emerald as “Lively. Radiant. Lush… A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony.” See below for some great emerald designer looks, as well as some emerald burda patterns and member projects!
Designer’s Spring / Summer 2013 collections portrayed emerald, and here are some of our favorites that we spotted:

Michael Kors gives emerald a hip-young feeling in this two-piece short suit

Burberry Prorsum walks a beautiful emerald lace dress down the runway. So stunning.

Gucci uses emerald for a classy turtle neck with sleeve gathers.

Stella McCartney shows us a wonderful shirt-dress in emerald that is so urban.
We have selected some burda patterns that have been photographed and made in emereld.

The Theater Dress looks absolutely stunning made in an emerald stretch satin. Also made in stretch satin is the Empire Top in plus size. It would sure dress up any outfit!

Nothing says luxury quite like the Satin Evening Gown sewn in a gorgeous shiny emerald satin. For an understated look try making the Over Sized Dress in an emerald silk. It is such a sleek and stylish dress.
And last, but certainly not least, we have selected a few recent member projects that show off this brilliant color perfectly.

Determined to test out her new sewing skills and tackle the Shift Dress pattern, alekat set out to create her Green Dolly dress. She used a “super drapey silk lykra blend” that cost her a “pretty penny.” Can we all agree this was worth the splurge?
If you aren’t quite ready for a full on emerald green outfit you can try a splash of this trend color with a jacket like AnitaS7’s Emerald Jacket. Check out AnitaSy7’s project page, she shows off the Cropped Jacket in 4 different well styled outfits.

Trploceanmoon never seems to let us down when it comes to inspiring style and she really hit it home with this head-turning Green Wool Jersey Cocktail Dress. Who needs a LBD when you can make a dress like this?
Elfka created a this silk evening dress by lengthening the V-neck Blouse pattern. Elka admits that she is not 100% satisfied with the style/fit and details of her dress but silk, I think we can all agree, is a challenging fabric to say the least. Whether or not Elka is 100% satisfied of not, the dress definitely caught our eye and we have to agree, the colour is awesome :).

From the runway to the magazines to the BurdaStyle member projects, shades of emerald are sure to turn heads. This is a color trend no one wants to miss. What do you want to make in emerald green?

No matter how much they want to make it a trend ,Emerald green never will be a strong one. Pantone has failed for several seasons now with the color they name “color of the year” and this coming season won’t be an exception. The ones who love it will wear it but the ones who never wore it before may be will get a tank top an accessory but never more than that. Black and white and the biggest trends of the season followed by light pink ,baby blue, lavender and vanilla yellow with white and gray. Navy blue will stay strong but this year combined with red and white, red and camel. Tangerine as well will stay strong this year combined with white and black (instead of last year combined with navy and white) Remember at the end of the season, because I will be right, again.

I should add, I have a very pink complexion and so (most shades of) green performs a magic where my skin looks more ivory, while my hair looks brighter and more coppery. My friend with light olive skin, dark brown hair and pale green eyes can’t wear any shade of green. It makes her skin actually look green.
Now, I’m going to dream dreams of Oz ;D

You’re right as usual, MK . Very few people can wear green.
Did you know that in the Couture ateliers sewing with green fabric is considered bad luck? Nuff said :.))

with the Michael Kors you are right, because it looks like a hard edge painting from Elsworth Kelly. that’s why it works.
