Need a break from the cold and snow? Resort wear in sunkissed colors will warm you right up. These designs are from the February 2012 issue of Burda Style magazine.

Pleated High Waisted Pants have a retro silhouette is flattering to hourglass figures and slims out your waist. The vintage high waist is fun to pair with wedged espadrilles or a crop top.

The Boatneck Tunic is the perfect piece to toss over a bikini, leggings, or a mini skirt for a little extra coverage. You’ll want this top in your suitcase for every vacation.

Nothing says vacation and lazy days in the sun like a relaxed Jersey Tunic. It’s just as comfy and cute with yoga pants running errands as it is on the beach! Dress it up with the draft-it-yourself Mini Skirt with Belt Loops, heeled sandals, and oversized sunglasses.

Cover up for a stroll on the boardwalk in this striped cotton twill Cardigan with pockets.

Get a fun nautical look with bold blue and white striped Skirt with Belt Loops. A wide belt cinches this easy to make skirt.

Bright stripes and pockets liven up the Cap Sleeve Shift Dress with Pockets. This straight and sophisticated shape just needs a statement clutch and sandals for a fun yacht party look.

This midi length Wrap Skirt with Belt has a retro feel but looks modern with a wide belt and a revealing wrap silhouette. Stripes and a canvas belt are beach ready.

Slip on these easy, breezy Wide Legged Pants for a day in the sun. They’re so pretty and elegant that no one will suspect they’re the comfiest pants you own! Try them with flat Grecian sandals or chunky wedges.

Resort wear is all about taking a little break from the cold. We love these boardwalk looks and warm colors, whether you’re celebrating summer across the equator or waiting for warm weather up north. Sunshine isn’t too far away!

Happy sewing!

Agree with you Couture Academic. Lovely to see summery patterns while we swelter in the 40 degree C heat! Looking at winter coats just about makes me faint! But of course I look anyway…;)

Mockingbird5, I totally agree with you. Their collections often have amazing fabrics that you just can’t find in the U.S., even online unless you can somehow manage to purchase yardage as a wholesale buyer (which I cannot). Please, BurdaStyle, can you help us home sewists with a list of your fabric resources?

Yes! where do they get their gorgeous fabrics from? If they are available online I would definitely buy.

I like the wide-legged pants pattern and the striped jersey they used is perfect for it.

Wow, just as I am about to make a range for sailing in Croatia, this gives me a bit of inspiration. Stripes are my theme.

One of the things I love about the Burda magazine is it presents it’s patterns made up in different patterns with different styling. I actually loved the weird futuristic city vibe that some of these patterns were made up in in a different set and it made me re-look at the beach set. Beach wear is never my favorite, but I have to admit, with the holidays over, I’m already dreaming of summer so these are looking pretty good.

I still love the shift dress with pockets. i bet it’d look super cute adapted to a striped jersey.

And I feel the colorblocked cardigan is seasonless. So cute.
