Ladies and gentlemen, the votes are in and it is time to announce the winners of the Summer Sewing Challenge.
Out of 10 finalists, the BurdaStyle community voted for their favorite entries. The grand prize winner, having received 272 votes, was ceding with her project: Summer in Miami. The runner up, having received 266 votes, was Spinneret with her project: Chevron!
“I was inspired by Miami Beach the epitome of summer if you ask me. The art deco inspiration, bright colors in every corner, light breezes, the ocean, everything screams paradise. I wanted my dress to bring the colors of Miami beach, and the movement of it’s blue oceans.”
For this project ceding used the Theresa pattern as a base, altering the dress by giving it a full circle skirt, adding a large keyhole opening to the back, and of course, pockets. Oh, and did you catch the not that this dress was hand sewn? Way to go, ceding!
Spinneret is right about one thing, this is a not-so-simple white blouse! Spinneret used the Liz pattern as a base, altering the blouse by replacing the front facing with a placket and slashing and spreading the front and back to create Chevron pleats. I think we all agree, this is an impressive alteration!
Ceding will be awarded the beautiful retro SINGER One™ sewing machine and Spinneret will be awarded an Expert Finish iron from SINGER.
Thanks goes out to all of the talented participants and SINGER for making this Summer Sewing Challenge possible.
