The grand prize winner will receive the new retro SINGER One™. The SINGER One™ sewing machine is the first in a new series of machines from SINGER that combines the company’s iconic design cues with its easiest-to-use features giving the classic sewing machine a modern twist.

The runner up will receive the Expert Finish iron from SINGER.

How to enter?

I’m joining all the other comentators here, on top of a similar poat I made yesterday on the terms page. HELLO, Burdastyle! This is an international community! Would you please acknoledge this? In the few years I’ve been a member, there was not even one competition that was international. I find it insulting.

      HI red-lia,

We are sorry to hear that you feel this way. This is however our forth competition on BurdaStyle this year alone. (Style X, Vintage Modern and The Moo Giveway before this one) This is the only one that is North America only and the reason is that SINGER can only supply the machine here due to the differences in power outlets and voltage in different countries in the world.

As you say, we have an international community here at BurdaStyle.com and this is something we are extremely excited about and this is also why the majority of our competitions and giveaways are international. We are however, a US based company and therefore have an easier time getting sponsors from US based companies, the same way they get German companies to sponsor competitions on the German, BurdaStyle.de site for instance.

We never meant fore you feel excluded and we are sorry to hear that you missed our other international competitions but hope you will enter future ones we will have!

      Best,

      BurdaStyle

      Hi petrafedorova,

We apologize that this particular competition could not be made international.

We hope you found our previous international competitions. This year we hosted the Style X challenge, The Vintage Modern Design Challenge as well as a MOO Giveway, all which were international.

We strive for all our competitions to be international but this time we are limited to North America unfortunately.

We hope you will keep and eye out for future international competitions!

      Hello Strawberryfreckles,

Yes, Swimwear would most definitely qualify. That makes an excellent summer outfit.

So sorry to see that Singer is the prize – as a Singer machine owner I can honestly say that Singer are no prize, in my opinion!! If you ever have problems don’t expect any help from them. I belong to several sewing/embroidery groups and very few owners of the newer Singers are happy with the performance of the machine and no one that has contacted Singer Customer Service has had a good experience.

Ashley Doll: I would recommend Brother. Affordable, dependable and spare parts + extras are easy to get (and again, affordable).

I think this is not a Burda fault this time It is singers. I would refuse to buy singer so they will recognize you! I not only will not enter because it is not open to all again but it is a singer product and will never own another one again or anything they produce under another name not even if it is given to me! So all of you that are sad you can not enter the contest believe me and trust me when I say you I do not want to own any other products as i spent thousands on one and out of replacing 5 in a month not one ever worked longer then 4 hours! For that reason alone be thank full you will not win something that will never work!

Some sort of gitftcard maybe? If it is, let’s say, a Swedish citizen who win ;) then make a giftcard to pick out a Singer from a provider that you collaborate with here or something… Globalisation guys!

I’m sure with all the money Burda makes frm patterns, ads, etc, shipping a wee little iron or sewing machine internationally would not break the bank. Maybe you guys should just name the site Burda USA (and sometimes Canada)

    Hi all,

We apologize for the inconvenience. This challenge has been made possible through the generosity of SINGER here in the US. Unfortunately, this particular competition can only be open for North America as this has to do with power voltage and the availability of the sewing machine given as a prize from SINGER.

We hope to have another competition soon that will be open for everyone.

Yet most of the patterns are made for European customers and the terms are confusing for North American readers.

Singer is available all over the world in every voltage that is used in the markets it is sold in. Not a good excuse sorry.

All the non-US members should create their beautiful summer clothes and post them with the title “Sewing Summer Challenge INTERNATIONAL” to show Burda how many people find their US-centric rules annoying. And we’ll all get to look at pretty clothes. Maybe if there are enough posts with the same title Burda might take notice of us…

Title it as International therefore not eligible to win! And make sure you use a free pattern or a non Burda pattern to highlight your dissent.

Why all of your competitions, guys, are US-centric? I bet a huge part of the Burdastyle members and subscribers are from outside the US.

      Hello Inna Shchepanska,

All our competitions are not US only, this particular one is North America only due to the issues with power and voltage for the particular machine offered as a prize by SINGER. We have so far this year already hosted three other competitions, all which were international. We apologize that you are missing out on this one but look forward to your participation in future competitions!

I agree with all the International Members of which I am one, it’s not fair to have NO PRIZE for non-US members. I don’t know how many of us there are…but we do exist!!!

In fact, I grew up with Burda at home, my mother, my aunt, and my Great-Aunt by marriage all used Burda for decades.

Is this how loyalty is repaid? When just yesterday on a popular sewing board, I directed a US member to this site who had never heard of you and is probably going to download a paying pattern and possibly get a subscription too?

      Hello lakaribane,

We are sorry that this competition can not be international. We strive to have all our competitions be international but this particular time it was not possible due to power outlet and voltage limitations with the particular machine offered as a prize.

We hope you found our other international competitions and that you will keep an eye out for future international challenges.

For competitions you should include all since it is not only North Americans who purchase your patterns and magazines. Ridiculous and I don’t understand the logic behind it..

Surely with all the $ Burdastyke will be making from the purchase of patterns they can offer a cash alternative to a Non North American winner???

How about offering 2 first prizes. The Internet has made is a GLOBAL community.
