Today we released 7 brand new patterns for Spring— including a super cute blouson jacket! Read on, get the patterns and see the mood boards…

These 7 patterns make up the recipe for Springtime staples— you can pair the jackets with the trousers and make matching ensembles— or create each piece to stand out on it’s own.

BILLOWING BLOUSON: Forget body-con, form fitting silhouettes for a moment and take in this blouson jacket pattern. I can’t wait to make one in washed silk and pair it with high-waist skinny jeans or wide leg trousers.

CROPPED: A fitted, cropped jacket looks stunning with a matching skirt— but will also hold it’s own as a separate if cut from a bold color or print. This cropped jacket pattern calls for sweatshirt material (if you want a casual look), but any silk or cotton would hold up just as well.

UTILITARIAN: There was some major controversy over our harem pants— and designers from McQueen to Theory have been parading them down the runways. This cropped utility trouser pattern makes for a happy medium between a low-hanging crotch and a basic cargo trouser. What do you think of this one?

SHIRT TAILS: A long shirt dress is a nice play on masculine/feminine. Cut in men’s shirting you’ve got a boyfriend top, cut from washed silk and you look like you’re dressed in Thakoon or Phillip Lim. This long shirt dress pattern is full of room for your own interpretation.

RIDING HIGH: I am a strong advocate for high-waist trousers and I think this high-waist trousers pattern is a keeper. They look great with a billowy blouse, a bustier top or even a t-shirt. Slimming and practical, these can make a great staple.

COATED: Has anyone made a Spring coat yet? These are fun to construct because they don’t always require extra insulation or bulky fabrics. Try this long slim coat pattern cut from creme colored lace or bucle— or take Valli’s cue and try a 3-toned cut a la Mondrian.

HIPPIE CHIC: Say hello to the 70s in wide leg trousers. Make them modern by cutting them from bright orange or purple. This cuffed bell bottoms pattern will flatter your behind and give some free spirited vibes to your step.

At last. All that ‘low rise’, muffin top look was making me long for the swish and swing look of the 70’s. Thank you, thank you!

I just finished a dress – after not sewing for ages. I’m quite happy with the pattern but not with the design of the fabric. But as it was to get going again …

I’ll definitely try one of these soon.

It’s hard to go wrong with the bat-wing blouson jacket in the first photo set. If you’re long-waisted (like me) you might need to lengthen the pattern at the waist a few inches, but it would be easy-peasy to sew

I am dying to make one too, and make sure to measure where it will fall. I think it will look nice if it hits right at your natural waist.

Actually, i’m looking for a high waisted and wide leg trousers pattern, think of jeans that Farrah Fawcett would have worn in Charlie’s Angels. I know that I could mix 03/2011’s 116 and 119, but wouldn’t be great to have a pattern ready to make?
