These sophisticated styles from the 05/2017 issue of BurdaStyle are sewn with lightweight silk and cotton fabrics in delicate shades of pastel that add a touch of fun to summer fashion for the office.

Tired of boring business skirts? Add a fresh twist to your look with this version. Wide tying bands decorate the front and can adjust to your comfort. A pullover or a T-shirt can make this outfit a relaxed look or keep it sleek paired with a blouse.

This wrap dress follows the figure beautifully. It features a dropped back hem and cropped sleeves with an elastic casing. Naturally, it is a great look on its own, though we showcase it here as a fill-in for the classic blouse as a nod to the newest looks on the catwalk. Style tip: Be sure to wear high heel pumps or sandals to keep the visual stretch on the look.

It requires some extra effort, though the result is really something special – and a true classic wardrobe choice. The blazer style coat includes long open lapels and slits at the sleeves. It draws together in front with a snap to ensure a smooth visual balance.

How about a jersey jumpsuit for the office? When it is sewn in a fine silk, then we say yes! The surplice bodice and the pleated trouser style are wonderfully posh. Add an extra definition at the waist by wearing a belt in the same tone.

A pencil skirt with a cool twist. The inlaid pleats are deep enough to create XL patch style pockets that lend this skirt sewn with a rough linen-cotton blend a touch of couture.

Perfectly delicate – and yet so wonderfully great for the office. The flounces on this blouse and the integrated tying bands have a seriously stylish look when worn with a blazer.

Rather than adding darts, this shirt gets its fit from tying bands in front that let you draw it in to your personal preference. A button placket in the back makes it easy to pull on and off.

A couture two-piece layer look that features a cross-over bodice over a knee-length dress. The bodice is relaxed over the fitted dress portion that is shaped with two darts for a perfect fit – and a narrow silhouette.

Pure luxury. The wide fit trousers with diagonal pocket openings are sewn with pure silk and feel heavenly against the skin. The wide yoke is smooth without feeling constrictive. Pair them with the longline blazer and you’re on-trend with the 90s look.

The integrated flounce along the front panel seams give this raglan sleeve blouse a feminine touch. The collar is finished with bands that extend to drape, as shown here, or to tie.

May’s issue was a total home run IMO. These looks can go everywhere and anywhere in my book.
