Six new dress patterns are sweeter than a mix from the soda fountain. Lace bodices, puffed sleeves, and summer’s essential maxi dress are a little sophisticated and a little rock and roll. These patterns are from the July 2014 issue of Burda Style magazine.

Floral lace fabric creates a peekaboo effect in this vintage-meets-modern Keyhole Dress with Lace Bodice. The fitted waist yoke and bustier style bust are a little retro, but the keyhole top is totally modern. It goes from parties to dancing!

_127

Highlight an hourglass figure in the Contrast V Neck Dress This dress can work for any occasion with a pretty V neckline and tank straps.

_130

The Empire Waist Maxi Dress is a summer essential! A shirred back and keyhole are playful and sexy for any figure and just right for hot weather. Have fun with contrasting fabrics at the bust and bottom ruffle. You could also shorten this dress for a totally different look.
_128

Black lace gives the otherwise modest Lace Bodice Dress plenty of romance. The V shaped hip yoke creates a slimming line and the wide boatneck calls attention to your face.

_129

This simply cut Dress with Asymmetrical Gathers has darts at the bust, a generous A line skirt, and little gathers at the bust for visual interest. Show off the wide round neckline with a statement necklace or updo.

_131

The Empire Waist Dress with Puff Sleeves has baby doll look. Change it up in a retro inspired tiki fabric. Pockets make this dress a great choice for every day or wearing to a barbecue.

A little red lipstick and a teased ponytail give these dresses a rockabilly look, but you can switch up the fabrics for any occasion. A flirty bodice and cinched waist are always in style!

Happy sewing!

Really like the keyhole lace top dress, but wish the skirt was more of a bubble shape the way it looks in the photo, with the bottom of the skirt tapering in. Like the lace top kimono sleeve dress too.

How can I get hold of a copy of the July magazine if I don’t live in the US? I don’t want to get the digital version as I’m rubbish at putting self-printed patterns together.

I love the last three—especially the lace bodice dress!

These 6 dresses are simply wonderful! The designs are so great!! I love the fabrics that each dress is made from. I need to find where I can purchase each of these fabrics, as I have looked local fabric stores and can not find anything close to the color or pattern of these fabrics. Please reply and tell me how to purchase enough fabric for each of these dresses. I am a plus size woman and these dress designs are so gorgeous. I have not seen anything else so modern and special for plus size. I am so excited to get the fabric so I can get started sewing, then wearing my dresses.

Love these, but for those of us who are plus sized with a generous bust, empire lines are a definite no go area. These have more shape to them though, and will definitely look at the contrast V neck dress.

I would like the maxi dress more if there wasn’t a ruffle at the bottom. It makes it look very “nightgown-y” to me.

These are plus size?? Wow! When I first saw these pics I was convince they were simply regular sized women. Goes to show that “regular” on the internet is really underweight. These dresses are beautiful. Now to figure out how to get these patterns & make them so I can be so pretty. :)

I really like these dresses with the exception of the maxi and mostly I just dislike the fabric choice, that being said I do like the fabric choice for the keyhole dress.

LOVE these dresses!! FINALLY style for plus sizes. Great job BurdaStyle!! I only wish these would have been out two months ago when I was looking for a stylish dress (not bagdress) for my Mother of the Groom dress. All of these in appropriate wedding fabric/colors would make very lovely MOB or MOG dresses, especially the lace bodice dress or the dress with the assymetrical gathers. I can totally envision either of these in a champaign shantung with corresponding lace. Also, I am finding myself only buying/downloading the BurdaStyle Plus size fashions lately. Nice job!!

I guess Burda has been listening to us! This is a great collection, and way better than some of the previous plus size collections they had in the past which upset a lot of people for being too shapeless. I like all of these!

Lovely fabrics-really keen on the last one for the Empire Waist dress. The maxi dress combination of fabrics is fun!

I am not plus size however I do find it refreshing that burdastyle offer so many fashion forward patterns for plus size ladies unlike its competitors! Good work!

These are gorgeous! The cut, the colours, the styling. You can really see how much nicer some of the Burda styles look once you put a figure underneath them. As a former waif and now mother with many more round spots, these photos make me wish that the regular size models were closer to the 38-42 range in size so that I could get a better idea of what the clothes would look like on me.
