Burda Style For people who sew

What is your dream sewing project?
There are so many things on my drawing board! I would love one day to become a lingerie designer, so an actual collection that I had designed and made patterns for would be my dream. Also, I’d like to think that in the future, if I get married, I would make my own wedding dress. I think that has to be the ultimate sewing project, doesn’t it?!

Where are you from and where do you live? What do you do other than sewing?
I was born in Austria, in a small town called Innsbruck. For the last 12 years, I have lived together with my beloved husband and my cat in Berlin, Germany. Due to a cronic illness (polyneuropathy), I had to stop working about 5 years ago and that brought me to sewing.

Where are you from and where do you live?
I’m from the western part of Japan and I spent my childhood there, and then I lived in Yokohama and Tokyo since my teenage years until recently, now I live in a small city near Mt. Fuji, one of the world’s highest and most beautiful mountains.

Where are you from and where do you live? What do you do other than sewing?
I live in Maine. That’s where I was born, grew up and will probably stay for the rest of my life. I love it in Maine ; )

I grew up in the country part of Victoria, Australia and moved to the crazy-beautiful city of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia 11 years ago. Melbourne is a city made up of an exciting mix of art, music, hidden restaurants and amazing coffee, and is magically able to produce four seasons in one day.

What’s your sewing secret weapon?
A deep breath and a good pair of scissors.

Where are you from and where do you live? What do you do other than sewing?
I live in Baden, a little town in the Northern part of Switzerland, close to the German border. Baden is the German word for “bath,” and it really used to be the equivalent of the British Bath.

I’m from Highland, Utah, and I’m actually living in my childhood home, my parents moved away, and my husband and I were appointed the caretakers. Other than sewing, I really like to cook, garden. Currently, I’m trying to exercise regularly, but I just hate doing it. I also used to own a tailoring shop that I sold just a month ago.

I’ve lived in various parts of London since moving here when I was 12 and am now happily settled in lovely Brixton.

Where are you from and where do you live now? What do you do other than sewing?
I was born in Surrey, England but eventually settled in West London where I work as a freelance Graphic Designer. My work is very creative and varied, and I currently have the absolute pleasure of designing childrens books. That said, I crave sewing time and my obsession grows by the day!

I was born in Oakland, California. The Navy moved my family to Jacksonville, Florida where I was raised since I was 4 years old.

Over a year in the making, The BurdaStyle Sewing Handbook has officially been released in the U.S. and we decided to celebrate by throwing a party at Housing Works in NYC! Friends, partners, contributors and BurdaStyle members (some even flew in from out of the country!) all came through for a great night of seeing new faces, catching up with old friends and celebrating our first publication.

I currently reside in the city of Novato, in Marin County, California. I grew up in Marin County, and have lived here my entire life (excepting a brief stint at school).
