[Update-11/8/2011] – We sincerely apologize for the recent technical difficulty surrounding our payment system.
We have been hard at work trying to resolve this issue, and expect it to be fully resolved by early next week. While we have been accepting manual orders for pattern purchases, if you can, please hold your prospective pattern purchase until Wednesday or Thursday of next week, when our payment system is restored.
If you have recently sent us an e-mail requesting to purchase patterns, please note that, unless otherwise notified, your pattern purchase request has not been processed. You will not be issued an invoice. We hope that you will purchase your intended patterns once our payment system is restored.
We realize this error may have considerably frustrated and inconvenienced you, and again sincerely apologize for it. We thank you for your patience and your patronage, and hope that you enjoy your patterns soon.
[Update – 10/26/2011] – We are still experiencing difficulty in restoring our pattern purchase system. As we continue to work on remedying this issue, we are accepting e-mail orders for pattern purchases.
Please e-mail Answers[at]BurdaStyle[dot]com with your pattern purchase request. Once received, our technical team will manually input the pattern into your BurdaStyle profile’s Purchase History. Once our payment system is restored, you will then be issued an invoice for your purchase.
Please Note: – It may take 2-4 business days before your pattern is available in your Purchase History.
We sincerely thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this issue.
Due to a recent, unexpected site error, the ability to purchase patterns has temporarily been restricted. We are working on resolving this issue as soon as possible. In the meantime, please note that you are still able to download all free and member-created patterns.
We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, and are working hard to remedy this. If you have any questions or concerns, please visit our Support page, or e-mail us at Answers[at]BurdaStyle[dot]com.
Thank you for your patience.

Hi, I am having a problem with purchasing a pattern. There is a “Braintree Payment” login page displayed when i get to the final step of purchasing. is this normal? what login details do I put in? Thanks! Jen

You said I would be able to purchase these patterns today – I explained about my assignment and got an extension from my tutor – I still can’t purchase them – our whole class is now aware of time frame in ordering a Burda Style pattern – meanwhile you are off at a book launch!!

So what is the point of having your website actually looking like a pattern purchasing site??? How about an error message on the HOME page so you don’t go through the whole pattern searching process, go to check out and THEN be disappointed/frustrated? It would be a courtesy to customers…. And maybe encourage them back after this is all over….

I agree. It’s been almost a month. It would have been nice to know I couldn’t buy any patterns before I picked them and added them to the cart. It’s really frustrating going through that whole process and then going to pay and being told that there’s a problem. There should be a message on the patterns page saying something to the effect of "Sorry, but you cannot purchase patterns at the moment because of technical difficulties.

I agree. I wasn’t planning on ranting, but receiving an email that simply told me to wait a week or so before trying again was, frankly, pathetic. If it was possible for the team to email, it should have been possible to simply attach the pattern.
The error message is a glaring omission from the homepage, from the blog, and even from the twitter and FB accounts. How about using social media to actually communicate with members?
And finally, I really think it would be a gesture of great goodwill for people awaiting patterns to be issued at least one, gratis. I look forward to seeing BurdaStyle really lift their game on this.

Totally agree!
I went out and bought all the fabric etc for two projects before realising that the patterns were unavailable.
I found a replacement pattern for one on www.sewingpatterns.com. Have been waiting for the other… but it’s getting ridiculous now. I suggested that since the pattern was only a few $ anyway, Burda should just make all patterns free until the payment system was fixed (might give more of an incentive?) but just got their generic “sincere apologies” reply.

24 days is a dangerous amount of time to leave your loyal customers in a ditch. I have been checking twice a day only to see that stupid ‘oops’ image time and time again. I ended up buying several commercial patterns this week from elsewhere.

Would you like to share the sites you know of? This company seems completely numb!!!

Oh! I went to my local store :)

Come on Burda! This is getting ridiculous, surely this is not how you want to treat your customers? Get the problem fixed already! I just tried the Burdastyle.de, but it wouldn’t let me add patterns to the cart. Did anyone else have this problem?

you can’t add the patterns to your cart if you are using google translate.
I just look at everything i like in google translate and then i go over to the regular site, NOT in translate and then buy what i want.

To get the patterns you need, go over to the German burda site – burdastyle.de. They have all the same patterns, also downloadable – and they have the full pattern archive!!!! I just use the Googletranslate option on my Chrome browser, and I can read the site just fine.

I used my Chrome browser to translate (Godsend), and still couldn’t find Lindsey, pattern 6055. I’m wondering if the German site uses different aliases for the patterns (I hope!)?
Nov 9, 2011, 01.07 AMby MientjiB
I’m not sure – perhaps the German site only has patterns that appeared in the magazine, rather than ones made specifically for the NY-based site? The pattern I wanted was in the magazine, so perhaps that’s why I could find it. You could send the Burdastyle.com people an email and ask them if their patterns are available on the German site?
Nov 9, 2011, 09.08 PMby Leah Sparks
great idea! they seem to have different free ones too!
Nov 11, 2011, 07.50 AMby amandala
I tried that but whenever I sign up for the german Burda site and go to the checkout it keep telling me my cart is empty.

after looking at these comments, I will not take a chance on ordering and not getting my pattern. Shame as in the past I have loved getting the patterns right away. I had visions of an outfit for a trip next week, but I guess I will go another route.
