Hey everyone, We have noticed that there has been quite a hubbub about the new quilt pattern. The reactions have been both positive and negative, either way very passionate. We at BurdaStyle are always trying to think outside the box and use new and innovative techniques. We like to invent and create new things at the risk that some are a success and some might still need some tweaking. We are glad to see that some saw it as an inspiration, using the technique to make something for their own, for the others we hope that the next pattern will be more satisfying. Thank you for all the comments both positive and negative.

i think it is a great idea... maybe some members are used to regular clothing patterns, you are thinking out the box as you said. It's fabulous because it has a great potential. Maybe the mix of fabrics didn't satisfy some members.

stoked about flickr up for swap!

Scandal, oh my, teehee! In general I'm not one to complain about things I get for FREE and am after all at liberty to take or leave, so I have no problem with it! Though being rather 'free-form' as it is, I can see how perhaps it would have made a better how-to rather than 'pattern'. It's definitely in the tradition of a Victorian 'Crazy Quilt'. That zipper-border business is very clever, I'd never have thought to use it as trim like that!

Im Sorry but that is the most hiddious quilt I have ever seen . I make scrap quilts and they are beautiful. The girl should have cut the fabric in smaller peices and the sewed thm together on a better way, like strips ot blocks. theis one would not be downloadd at all unless the sewer is new. I KNOW this lady can do better than that. And Im wondering why they use the same patterns all the time>> if they can chang one they should be taught how to design their own I find thes are not designs, they are coppies of other patterns. so I can't see where it make a personal statement of the talent that some of these people have. Thank you

I like it - very abstract, "straight" quilts are a dime a dozen and mass produced...this is unique.

Hello again, I agree with emilykate, we are getting awesome things for free in this community, if you don't like it, don't take it! that's it. I don't want to be rude, but Guyie, if you don't like it and it seems hideous, then keep it to yourself, and post one of your "beautiful" scrap quilts. Members of this community are here to support each other and collaborate, not to criticize, specially in such nonconstructive way.

Hello, I have read all of the comments of the other members, and I must agree with those who have stated that we do in fact get so many of these lovely patterns for FREE (magic word ;) and are not obliged to make any of them. I have been rather surprised at the remarkable level of negativity/controversy over this project. I do not prefer the layout of this quilt, but the concept is AWESOME. I have sorted through my fabric scrap collection and intend to make a quilt this month. Keep up the creative work Burda people, I have yet to find a sewing site to equal this one, and you continue to inspire me.

wishing everyone a happy new year!

I want to add something: I'm also no fan of this pattern, or of quilting, but I can see, that it is a great idea, but of course it could've also been How-To. Of course this here is all for free, but does that mean that one cannot say his/her opinion? I think it should be allowed to do so. Of course we should not forget that there are many great patterns on this site you don't have to pay for. Every week I'm really exited what will come next and I'm always a little bit disappointet if it's not for free or only for plus sizes, as I was the week where this quilt came. Burdastyle, you were feeding your members with cakes and now they get a cracker. No wonder they complain.
