Glamor, Glitter, Fashion week. All week New York was one big mad house. If you spend some time in between the fashion favored locations in Chelsea, Soho and Bryant Park, you could watch a beautiful, perfectly groomed crowd nervously rushing from show to show, followed by reporters and bloggers, such as The Satorialist on the hunt for the next big trend.
Nora and I were so fortunate to join the crowd for a couple of days, and we have to say, we enjoyed it to the fullest. Lucky for us that our uptown colleague Lydia Schmid, correspondent for the German Elle, had a big deadline and was so sweet to send us to the shows she had to miss instead, which not only got us into great shows, we also had great seats. My favorite show was Thakoon and that for many reasons.
First of all, we can all agree that his collections are what we imagine ourselves wearing when we dream of our better selves.
Secondly the front row was stuffed with stylish celebrities. We got a closer glimpse when we realized that we of all things had stolen the seats right behind Anna Wintour and Kate Bosworth. A flurry of flashes went off and we were cordially invited to leave the seats to its righteous owner. (you can see Noras bright turquoise dress behind Kate in that very tiny picture…)
Our favorite reason however was that the very first look appearing on the catwalk, reminded us very much of our Tonia Shorts . Without implying anything, we have to say VIVA! OPEN SOURCE SEWING ,
