I spent some time at home with my parents this weekend- eating, going for drives, talking until late in the night, then eating some more… You know, the usual. Every time I go home I tend to mosey around each room to see what is different, what new purchases my parents have made (in the kitchen I found two-tiered toaster oven!), what furniture has moved around…

This time, I re-discovered some old family photo albums. Curious to see photos of my parents (as I am currently finding out, more and more, that my parents were once my age…), I went way back into the oldest albums. It is there that I found this photo and the inspiration for my latest How To. My, I was adorable!

My mother made most of my clothes when I was younger, and I remembered this gray striped jumper as one of my favorites! Many of my dresses were made in this easy, loose fitted style, which I'm sure was handy as I was a growing child. This dress is supremely comfortable and easy to play in. And while I don’t get to spend much time in the playground anymore, much to my dismay, and hope that my growing days are over, I kept this dress in mind. I love children’s clothing, especially frocks and dresses that make you look like a cupcake. I even have a few sketchbooks of dressed inspired by children’s wear. So I adapted an idea for a child’s jumper dress into one appropriate for a grown up – or at least, someone who looks like a grown up. Now I hope you will too be inspired and find the child within by making your own
