My favorite weekend project right now is teaching my daughter to sew. we have been making doll cloths for her bears from her own patterns. Its a great project to upcycle some of her old cloths that she has outgrown.

As far as weekend sewing…handbags and totes, definitely! No fussing with patterns and fit.

My weekend projects are ones that have lots of detail. I like to do all the cutting and planning over the weekend. I get everything ready to sew in time segments like an hour at a time. When I sit down to sew it is all ready to sew away. I do quilts and garment construction. I spend as many hours as i can sewing.

The weekends are the best time for me to practice drafting patterns from the sloper to a style. Although I have taken Flat pattern I and II at the local community college, the professors neglected to teach us how to draft a basic sloper! So it’s going to be a self taught skill, but I’m getting the hang of it. Good thing I’m a good book learner! So weekends are when everyone is available for me to take measurements, draft, sew it up, and remeasure if I have to.

My favourite weekend projects are taking clothes that have purchased in 2nd hand shops and upcycling them into new items…..my teenage daughter is starting to get the weekend project bug tooo, she has just taken an old 80’s jacket long suit jacket and turned it into a short trendy jacket! cheap at only 99p too, and keeps the kiddies occupied and away from the video games and tv.

I’m SO GLAD they showed hot to smock! It’s been on my learning to-do list for quite some time. My favorite weekend projects are sewn baby blankets and maching baby booties. For the blankets I only use 1 yard and one side is cotton the other side is flannel then I decorative stitch around the edges. I try to keep a few ready for when friends have their babies or to donate to a local group on occasion. They are the perfect size for swaddling babies and on into toddler years.

My favorite weekend sewing would be little girls pesant dresses. They are so simple, but can be modified to have so many looks. I wish I had been at that Martha taping…would love to have seen Heather Ross!

i LOVE SEWING WHETHER DURING THE WEEK OR ON THE WEEKEND. MY FAVORITE WEEKEND PROJECT IS TO MAKE SOMETHING FOR ONE OF MY VISITING FRIENDS OR FAMILY. SOMETHING WE CAN DO TOGETHER, WHO KNOWS WHICH ONE OF US HAS A NEW SHORTCUT OR BETTER IDEA . LEAST FAVORITE WEEKEND PROJECT REMAINS CLEANING THE SEWINGROOM OF CLUTTER. LOL

Since I spend my weeks doing mending and sewing for other people, I like to spend my weekends working on projects for me, or new ones that I am really interested in trying. This way I know my free time on the weekend can be totally devoted to it and I’m not on any time schedule to complete it … just my own schedule.

My favorite weekend projects are smaller and more quickly completed projects like home decorating items (pillows, pillow cases, mug rugs using quilt block patterns) and quick fashion items (scarves, cowls, aprons). Me, my sewing machine, and my ironing board/iron take over the dining room for the weekend and it’s a blast!

I’m a stay at home mom so my weekend projects aren’t much different than my week-day projects. But when it comes to working on something complicated it helps to work on it over the weekend when my husband can pay more attention to our son and I can concentrate more on the project.

I don’t sew that much during weekends, but I guess my favourite would be prepping all sorts of things, so I can more easily sew during the weekdays, i.e. cutting fabric and interface…
