My favorite weekend sewing project is finding time to sew!!! I like to pick a project that is easy to work on over time, without loosing track of where I am in the construction phase. Sewing Jean Jackets for my man before he wears out his current jacket works well for me. If I have alot of time to sew on a particular weekend, definately a clothing item that I can finish within a week. :)

As I gear up for my sewing business and still hold a full time job, weekend sewing projects are serging the edges of yards of fabric to launder, iron and store away. If I had my choice of doing actual projects, it would be making handbags and wallets!

On the weekend I like to work on fitting my garments. I always require tons of adjustments, so I need time to adjust the paper patterns, sew a muslin, try it on and photograph the bejeezus out of it, analysis, and repeat until the fit is correct. Once the fit is solid, I can do bits and pieces of the garment sewing throughout the week.

I have Heather’s book, and have made several of her weekend projects. My favorite is the all-weekend sundress. I made two for myself and another for a friend. I am looking forward to wearing them again this summer.

A weekend project that I do at least once a year is for my partner’s chocolate shop. I sew him a neapolitan flag- pink, white, brown- for Neapolitan Chocolates. It hangs at the top of his shop in southeast Portland.

I like to upcycle: change shirts into pants; sweaters into caps. Especially on the weekends, I like to do fix-it projects: Fix the armpit hole; hem the pants; patch the knee. Things that are quick and rewarding!

My favorite weekend projects are usually for my little boy. I love to make stuffed animals for him and his friends. I dream of four hours with no interruptions and just sewing something for myself:) But now that spring is on the way I have so many fun dress patterns to tackle.

Love your show. My favorite hobby is sewing. I like to sew different items from crafty items to clothing. I like giving gifts and sharing my creations. My machine is an old singer. The reverse doesn’t work. I just turn the material. I am saving up for a new machine. Thank you for demonstrating such wonderful ideas. God bless, Elisa
