Are you proud of your colorful, organized, and beautifully lit sewing room? A sewing studio with enough care can become a work of art! The upcoming BurdaStyle book is seeking images of your sewing rooms. Your studio can be big or small, beige or bright pink! It’s not about the space itself, it’s about what YOU have done to the space. We are looking for creative solutions to decorating and organizing. Share your sewing room with the world!
Images must be at 300 dpi (high resolution) and at least 6 inches wide. Remember, these will be for print, not web!
Email submissions[at]burdastyle[dot]com with the subject line “My Sewing Room” by January 24th.
Go grab that camera and get snappin’!

Is there a deadline for this? I’ve been away so I’d love to submit some new current pics…after a bit of a tidy, lol ;)

Like lots of other people I don’t have ANY dedicated space for sewing, nevermind a whole room. I want to organise all my sewing stuff so it’s easy to get out (usually on the dining table) and pack away again for small jobs. At the moment, I feel a kind of “while it’s all out I should really make it worth it” pressure. Tidying up is always so hard as well. I’m thinking of a large box with lots of compartments but I’d love to see other people’s solution to this problem. Any chance of profiling occasional sewing solutions?

This is probably a silly question, but I added mine to the flickr group – if I wanted to submit it to Burda Style for this, should I e-mail it again, or is that just redundant? thanks :-/

I wish! My place is everywhere.. I cut my fabric on a kitchen table, assemble the garment by sitting on a sofa. And, as for sewing space.. it requires me to take out my machine, clear my writing desk and drag the foot pedal from behind the desk. I wish I had space for my crafting.. but, we all manage the way we can.. :)

I have a desk where my machine lives! I have plastic drawers under the desk and a bin to hold the fabric. It is in my living room and when I am working on a project there is no surface that I won’t use. It isn’t very organized and right now there is a pattern, partially cut out mocking me as I type this. Sigh.

I would love to have a whole room set aside for my sewing and other crafts. But that’s not possible right now :( I would be able to show yall how I have all my supplies perfectly organized and stuck in every tine space there is! I sometimes joke that I have a craft room with a bed in it! Though if I had my way, I’d be sleeping in a hammock! More room for my fabrics and all! :)

I agree with the idea for a makeover! I have my own sewing room, but I only have an old desk for the machines, and no storage.

MESS over at my place as well. I dream of the day my craft space is a well organized haven, but until then I’ll just be in my room making a happy mess.

I don’t have a sewing room (unless you count that my sewing has taken over the living room…). But some day I will. My husband and I have planned out our “shop” for that some day when we build a house and the whole upper floor will be for my sewing and craft. I have the whole room planned out. ….someday.

I have had a beautiful sewing area in my flat for years but am in the middle of moving to a new studio. This one will have less of the pretty tat but will be much more functional. If it gets finished in time perhaps I will submit images of both. Chalk and cheese.

Ha ha, I have taken over the back of our lounge for my sewing room! The over locker lives in the cupboard under the stereo, the sewing machine in a cabinet on wheels in front of the kitchen dresser (which would not fit in the kitchen) and the trunks of fabric and wool are stacked under the table, which is currently covered in boxes of my husbands fish tank equipment! Then there are the children’s toys all over the floor and a rocking horse… no I am not taking a picture!

I love my sewing room but right now if someone walked in there they would wonder how in the world I got anything accomplished. It is a MESS!!!! Am planning on reorganizing and redecorating it but hasn’t happened yet and no way am I either going to take pictures for all to see in the shape it is in. Oh and I agree with dancing, let us send our pics of our rooms and enter to win a makeover, that would be GREAT!!!!!

perhaps I could be in the section of the book that talks about great potential and then someone comes in and makes it a star!…sortof like American Idol for craft rooms – the diamond in the rough!

What a hoot! My sewing machine and overlocker compete with the jeweller’s equipment, the cardmaking, stamping, photography and painting gear. No way I’m showing that room to ANYONE!
