While fashion and street style blogs are nothing new to the internet, most tend to concentrate on trendy clothing for ‘Generation Y’. What about style for ‘Baby Boomers’ and beyond? That’s where Advanced Style comes in. Their tag line, “Proof from the wizened and silver-haired set that personal style advances with age” describes their site perfectly, showing the wild, wacky, contemporary, and even traditional looks sported by our aging population. Not only is it a fun read, but gave me a glimpse into my future!

For the older woman there’s always the Red Hat Society, www.redhatsociety.com that many of us ladies over 50 belong to.
We dress up in purple clothing and wear red hats when we go out on the town. Sometimes just once a month for lunch, the movies or the like with our own groups/chapters and many a times we join in festivities with many more chapters in our own area and other sections of the United States. There’s RHS chapters all over the world.
Some of the ladies really get dressd to the gills, with the latest fashions and the like. Plus lots of frills and add-ons to their outfits. You can see some photos from one of our Central New Jersey Red Hatters MiniVentions on my Flickr photostream at www.Flickr.com/Oceanpeg and a lot more photos of red hatters on Flickr when you put in either “Red Hatters” or the “Red Hat Society” over there.

I plan to be a fashionable old lady. I get a little sad when I see old women shop in the “Alfred Dunner” section at Macy’s It screams old women, and is far to “matchy matchy”
I’m always happen to see a properly dressed older women. Getting older doesn’t mean sacrificing style. I once saw an older women in a bright pink outfit. She was adorable. =)
