Carol and I were lucky enough to get to spend a week with Sandra Betzina and a group of amazing (and amazingly talented) women. We were walked through all our questions, given tips, tricks and advice to help us complete the best project we possibly could. It is that reason exactly that I now know how to do bound buttons holes instead of just copping out and doing them by machine. Those who are lucky enough to have met Sandra in person or even more, have had the opportunity to take one of her amazing retreats also knows she is a stellar person as well as an engaging spirit. We highly recommend all BurdaStyle members to consider attending one of her hands on retreats. It’s an enlightening experience, with one week of skill building, inspiration, and friendship. We learned amazing techniques, how to properly fix patterns to your individual body type, how to fix common sewing boo boos and challenges; Sandra provides any sewer the skill to sew with confidence. Those who are not able to attend are encouraged to check out the Power Sewing WebTV Show on her site.
Our friend from the retreat, Roseana Auten, blogged about our retreat everyday, see what she wrote on her blog. She is an amazingly talented seamstress who is a master of fit. Anyone in the Austin area who wants to improve their skills should look her up! She will also be posting up blogs and techniques here on BurdaStyle, check out her first one and keep your eyes peeled for future posts.

Love the frock with the belt – a real 1940s feel to it. Can you share the pattern number (if there is one) please?

Hey Esmeedith,
I literally pulled it from a box on the side of the street destined for the garbage! I will try and find it though
