6 Trends we saw on the SAG 2018 Awards red carpet that you can sew yourself! Awards season is in full swing, just a couple week’s ago we saw The Golden Globes red carpet style with everyone in black for a very important cause. Last night’s fashions did not disappoint and the stars went all out! Read on to see some of our favorite red carpet trends and pattern picks so you can recreate them…

Pretty in Pink

Stars like Saoirse Ronan, Margot Robbie, and Kate Hudson graced the red carpet in shades of pink! Not only were the colors fun, but the dress designs were fun and playful.

Vintage Grace Dress

To get the look try sewing our flirty Vintage Grace Dress in a pink lace to replicate the playfulness that we saw on the stars.

Feathers were out in full swing on celebs like Mary J. Blige, Lupita Nyong’o, and Olivia Munn. Whether real-like, or imitated thorugh fabric shapes, we loved it all!

Dopped Waist Dress

If you don’t want to go full on feather for your project, try using a feather printed fabric like used in our Dropped Waist Dress.

Sequins All Over

I feel as though sequins will never go out of style on red carpets and starlets like Nicole Kidman, Connie Britton, and Susan Sarandon embraced them all over.

Vintage Donna Dress

Try your hand at sewing all with sequins for your next special occasion dress, and our Vintage Donna Dress is a perfect pattern to use.

This is Blue

This Is Us won a lot of awards last night, and they also brought us winning (and matching!) looks on the carpet. Cobalt blue is such a vibrant color and makes such a statement on the cast of This Is Us including Mandy Moore, Chrissy Metz, and Susan Kelechi.

Dress with Asymmetrical Collar

Feel like a winner too by sewing your next project in a cobalt blue fabric like in our Cocktail Dress with Asymmetrical Collar.

Cape Town

Stars like Uzo Aduba, Laura Linney, and Tracee Ellis Ross wore cape style dresses and I’m totally a fan of this style. There is something so elegant about a caped dress, especially on the red carpet.

Flounce Dress

Sew this trend yourself using our Flounce Dress which mimics the cape stying. To make it more red carpet ready, you could lengthen the hemline of both the dress and the cape!

Fun Florals

It seems as though florals are always in fashion – but these are bold and fun! Celebs like Brie Larson, Gina Rodriguez, and Zoe Kazan bloomed on the red carpet embracing this trend.

Shoulder Cutout Dress

Incorporate a bold floral into your garment like in our Shoulder Cut Out Dress to make a statement. And don’t worry, florals are not just for summer anymore!

Who was your best dressed?
