Starting today Sunday the 12th of October you have 2 weeks to make and upload your creation to the site for a chance to win some special secret sewing treats and BurdaStyle goodies! And the twist? Your creation MUST be recycled. You may use any patterns, how-to’s or techniques featured on the BurdaStyle site.
THE RULES:
• You need to be a registered member to take part.
• Your creation MUST be recycled.
• You must upload your creation into the ‘Mini Challenge’ category by Sunday the 26th of October.
• Put the word “recycle” into the name/title of your creation so we can tell it’s for this MiniChallenge
• When you upload your creation you must give a detailed description of how you made your creation, the patterns, how-to’s or techniques you used, materials you used and how it was recycled etc.
• Show us your ‘before’ materials in a photograph.
The mini challenge will be judged by you the members. Voting will start on Tuesday the 28th of October, more details about how to vote will be given at a later date. When voting you should take the following into consideration:

quick question – what exactly is the “mini challenge category” to which we must upload our creations?
Oct 14, 2008, 03.52 AMby nikkishell
When you upload your creation there is a drop down list, click on ‘mini challenge’ to be included in the challenge. :)

this may be silly but does this challenge mean “mini skirt” or mini as in quick? and does 100% recycled include old clothes.
Oct 14, 2008, 02.28 PMby nikkishell
Mini as in quick, it lasts for 2 weeks. 100% recycled includes old clothes.

Very exciting i’m really wanting to get involved in this amazing site. Can someone define recylced as it used quite loosely, are you meaning revamp an old item of clothing or use old items of clothing to create something new. Or can I use fabric left overs or 50 cent cut offs and left overs I’ve bought from a charity/thrift store, as well ?

I think one of my creation is a recycled. But how if i made and upload it before 12th october? May i sign my creation to this “mini chalange” just with changing the name and add the pattern to that creation?

Well, the aim of the mini challenge is that you have 2 weeks to make something and upload it. That’s the challenge! To get something made in that short amount of time.
You should show us your materials before then your finished garment.
Oct 17, 2008, 01.44 PMby khestossen777
sounds great! i think i will use a local and western combination of material.

Quick question about the materials allowed— I’m considering adding some embellishment to my project. The trim is not recycled, but it was given to me awhile back and has been in my stash. The rest of the project is from completely recycled materials. If the trim is a no-go, that’s ok, I’ll just leave it off—just need to know because I’m almost at the point where I would need to add it!
