The undisputed “authority on color”, Pantone, has released their Color of the Year for 2011. Enter Honeysuckle. “A brave new color for, a brave new world,” the pinkish hue is said to be a powerful color that elevates the psyche and wards off the blues. It seems a few designers, including Marc Jacobs and Prabal Gurung (and us – that looks at lot like our signature BurdaStyle pink if you ask me!), were a little bit ahead of the curve on this color selection, adding the bold pink to accessories and ensembles for Spring 2011. What do you think about their Honeysuckle selection? Will you use (or have you already) the color in your projects for 2011?

Another fabulous choice – thank you Pantone! I loved this year’s Turquoise, last year’s Wattle was also a spark of colour. And I picked up my Pantone swatch guide thing to hunt out the colour – and it fanned open at 205U – the right colour!!! Come winter I reckon there will be something extra in my wardrobe in Honeysuckle!

This isn’t your normal namby-pamby pink – it pops! I love it, especially with the purple! I usually don’t wear pink but I might wear this one.

I’m not sure what I think about the colour. I agree with Nadine that it needs to be used sparingly, but when done right, I think it will add a breath of fresh air to spring outfits.

I love that colour, whatever the ‘real’ name is. very fresh, and daring if you ‘d combine it with a violet blazer. Although I think it wouldn’t really suit me.

I think i like the picture with the white blouse and the pink pants the best. :)

honeysuckle is misleading. honeysuckle is white with yellow. not pink. pink is pink.

For pink, I do like this hue.

I wish online Fabric Vendors would list their fabrics with Pantone ID’s. Then again, those Pantone color charts are outrageously priced. It would be nice to know if the fabric you are ordering will match something you already have (or also ordering). Colors on monitors are not predictable enough.

The color is not flattering for everyone and based on the examples of the styles they have been used in, designers for the most part failed to make designs that flatter the color itself. I’m all for color but this color needs to be rethought. Meantime, let’s leave it on the flower where it belongs.

This would be a hard sell to anyone but my 7 year old. My teenage daughter is decidedly “anti-pink”. This color as an accent wouldn’t be bad.
