We can’t spill the beans yet, but this project is super amazing and we would love your contributions. We are searching for members to sew original interpretations of never-before-seen BurdaStyle patterns!
If you love altering our patterns to fit your personal style, this is your project!
Your designs will travel beyond our site, to be shown at live events and distributed in a widely seen print publication.
Designers have one month to complete the pattern alterations, sew the garment, and send it to the BurdaStyle offices in New York City. If you think you are up for the challenge, let us know!
To submit, click here.
Open Call ends this Sunday, May 2nd at 11:50 pm EST.
Good Luck!
- Rachel @ BurdaStyle

When do we find out? The first deadline and the updated deadline has passed and I’m not sure who I should ask about this…

Do those with nothing in their studios have a chance at being chosen? I always give the things I make away, I never think of taking a picture. :|

If we make something, do we get it back? I’m hesitant about buying fabric and putting blood sweat and tears into a garment and not be able to wear it.

You should pick me! I can make anything!

What a great project! Too bad it’s in the middle of summer holiday, and I’ll be away in London for a sewing course! Can you believe it… I hope you’ll run something similar later on, or just a smaller version of this challenge. But hey, what happens if I answer ‘no’ in question 4, UP TO THE CHALLENGE?

I am so excited! I hope I get chosen and that the timescale does not coincide with all exam marking!

How exciting!!!

I am assuming you are referring to the slight change in the survey. We had to switch one question to ask for a link to your “My Studio” page, instead of “Activity.” The change was for a technical problem. If you submitted your application already, no worries! All applications will be considered equally.
Did I answer your question?

What is my style wall, I am new to this – did I miss something when I signed up?

Sounds like fun.. I better get creative.. Even if I dont get chosen, It be fun to see at other people designs.. Can wait for the result :o) Good luck to everybody.
PS Burda team.. I’ve been trying to post more of my projects, but i’m having problems with it. I keep getting an error message that I need to add a material. Which I do… I had the same problem posting my 2nd project. With the 3rd project, it took me about half an hour before I managed to add this on.. Am I doing someting wrong. Any tips???

This happened to me, too-I’m glad to know it wasn’t just me!! It was very frustrating, then I just gave up. I’ll try again and see if it works.

I would LOVE to do this, but the timing is off for me, my husband is being deployed July 5th and I will be moving to a temporary address for the first week of July. Sounds exciting though! Have fun all! Can hardly wait to see the results!!

lol I’m in the same boat- I’d love to as well but my baby is due on the 8th July… can’t see myself having much time to sew anything that’s not baby related around then.

Question 8 is “Please copy and paste a link to your BurdaStyle Activity page” – am I supposed to copy-paste the link of “my activity” page? There’s only 50 character limit and mine is longer.

Oh I am so happy this is open to all levels! I am off to fill out my form :)

Re trousers, I totally understand! although the use of zippers-the most rebuffing thing about trousers- can be avoided creatively? This endeavour is in itself an ‘alteration’ Then anyone can ‘pant’ either beginner or advanced sewer :) Cool project, just to reiterate

I don’t think it’s the zip – maybe the fit?

I was so excited! But when I started to fill in the form, I realised that IRAN is not in your list of countries!!! Any particular reason for that? :(

That’s very strange, sorry about that!
Type in Iran in the Address 2 Box and I will see it.
Thanks for letting us know.

Thank you Rachel for your reply. I did so , but the sistem wouldn’t accept it without a country being chosen! So, I picked Iraq as for country. But I live in Iran.

I’m excited as well I signed up! I wish pants were in the mix as well.

Great initiative!!! However, trousers are not included on your list, a bit of a shame

This project is open to all levels and we found that pants are too challenging for most beginners. Thanks for the input!
