After the whir of the holidays and finally getting all the presents made I have turned my eyes to the future, and by the future, I mean the New Year. It’s a great time to start a new, turn over a new leaf and stick to your resolutions, as hard as that may be.
After a year of working here at BurdaStyle, I have decided to actually make more of what I wear. Though there have been missteps (my first 100,000 member T shirt is still kicking around the office) I have learned from them, and am making the pledge to make more and buy less for 2009.
What are your sewing resolutions?

I’d like to use more of my fabric stash. I was going to add not buy any new fabric to that, but I think it will be stretching my resolve too much, especially as I have such a fabric addiction and the sales are so tempting.

I guess I have a lot of the same idea’s as all the others: 1. I would like to finish all my UFO’s. 2. Make my sewing room more user friendly (clean it). 3. Sew more clothing for myself. 4. Sew more charity items. And number 5, which doesn’t relate to much to sewing, learn a new language. Maybe German so I can read all my older Burda magazines.?!

If I have any sewing resolutions, then it’s definitely to finish all I have ever planned and started before taking up any new projects!

I hope to, as many other writers, to sew more of my clothes, and use up some of the gorgeous fabrics in my stash, and therefore save money to pay for classes at a gym so I can lose some weight. My clothes will look a lot better then!!!!

Finish: 3 little nightgowns, 2 little pants, 1 little hoodie for the daughters.
Start: more Park Bench patterns for me for dressy tops, and more t-shirts (if i can find interesting cotton knits) for real life
Teach: a pack of Brownies to make something — a tote? a bag? a quilt Use: that stash … maybe the Brownies could help.
Any suggestions for Brownies appreciated. Happy 2009. Let’s get started!

My sewing resolution is to challenge myself and be brave! (In other words, try other patterns besides the ones marked ‘easy’).

I resolve to finish the two jackets I started in the Fall of 2007, one for my husband and one for myself. I also resolve to sew at least 4 hours per week and walk at least 4 hours per week. And I hope this is just a starting point.

A sewing resolution! This year, I want to make friends with the 5-thread serger which in the past has been something between frustration & cosmic mystery…I’d like to learn how to upload pics of creations,
and upload some patterns I’ve created & wish to share. Also,
I’d like to learn to put in a decent zipper without having it look like
it was sewn by Salvador Dali. And twin-needle sewing, have tried that in the past and failed miserably, but with the info others have shared in how-to’s & forum, have been inspired to try again… Also want to upcycle a couple of Indian gauze skirts into hippe-anda tops!

I tend to get bogged down in ‘making the donuts’ for ledthread(.etsy.com!!) This year, I want ledthread to be more of an art project, with more one-of-a-kind trashcouture (my new word for the supermessawesomeness pieces I’ve been working on). I think classic ledthread will still be around, but I’m excited for more pieces that are fun for ME to make, where I have to worry less about doing things exactly right… I like to sew like I doodle, not thinking about it very hard. Also, I want to get back in shape!

Well I have made many resolutions for 2009 and I hope that I can accomplish all of them. As far as sewing I resolve to do more of it!!!!! I would like to sew more of the clothes that I wear and that my children wear and be as frugal as possible while doing it. I also have resolved to not stress about it. If i can sew a few things a month I will be happy. I sometimes get frustrated that i can’t be like all the super sewers on etsy who sell their fab creations to support their sewing addiction. But I have come to accept that with 4 small children, a part time job and a very demanding home life that sewing anything at all is an amazing thing. I would also like to start blogging as a release and a way to share my passion. Look for me in ’09!!!! Happy New Year!!!!!!!!

I don’t make resolutions but I do make plans – it’s the same thing, maybe, but I hold my plans in mind all year and update them regularly. My plans for sewing are not to “finish up” my unfinished things – I’ll be doing that anyway in the natural course of things, and making more “unfinished things” along the way. What I would like to do is better organize my house to support my new hobby, which has kind of “taken over”. I have found that sewing and design is instrumental to my happiness and sense of well being, so I shall certainly doing more of it. I’m planning to slowly become more adventurous and ambitious in what I make – I have been so busy learning the basics up to now. I also plan to venture into more “public” territory – making clothes for standard sizes and not just for my self, friends and family. Although I plan to play with “non standard” standard sizes somewhat, make things for plus sizes, for example. For my, my sewing/designing adventure is just beginning, and I’m sure 2009 holds huge rewards for me!

Keep the sewing room tidy! This is the big one…
Use more stash! I do try, but the fabric shops are so tempting…
Finish a few long-term UFO’s, especially quilting ones!
