Breathtaking gowns at the vintage themed fashion extravaganza, featuring all your favorite celebrities and gowns by Oscar De La Renta and Dior.

The Met Costume Institute Gala is New York City’s biggest fashion event. Designers, models, and actresses get to wear gorgeous gowns that are bolder than the Oscars and more formal than film premieres. This year’s theme was Charles James: Beyond Fashion, and the glamorous looks are absolutely inspiring!

Graphic black and white was one of the night’s biggest trends, and Zoe Saldana looked stunning in this playful gown by Michael Kors.

Allison Williams showed off her timeless aesthetic in Oscar De La Renta and sleek hair. We are loving this coral color!

Another beautiful look from Oscar De La Renta. Taylor Swift looks like a princess in this pink gown with a huge bow and train.

Charlize Theron’s Dior gown accentuates her curves. There’s always room for a bombshell at the Met Gala!

Rihanna usually goes for sex appeal on the red carpet, and went for a two piece ensemble by Stella McCartney. Check out the draping and structured shoulders.

Leave it to Johnny Depp and Amber Heard to bring some whimsy. Her Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown has a vintage feel that works perfectly with a red statement lip.

Dita Von Teese was Zac Posen’s muse for the red carpet, and she looked her usually stunning self!

The only gossip being said about Leighton Meester is how beautiful she looked in her Emilio Pucci design.

Maybe next year, Anna Wintour will send us an invitation! Until then, we’ll be sketching ball gowns and dreaming of rubbing satin shoulders with Charlize Theron and Beyonce. Happy sewing!

Leighton gown looks like it doesn’t fit her and she needs a tailor so yes it may be beautiful but it doesn’t flatter her body. Charlize and Dita look like women with curves in all the right places as does Rihanna. Johnny Depp’s approach to dressing is starting to look slightly crazy and I think his fashion sense has gone off the boil. As to Taylor Swift I really don’t the Princess Gown at all and I think she has made better choices in the past. Yes it is pretty but on her it is really predictable.

Ms Von Teese’s gown colour is lovely but the hem/bottom looks like it’s about to detach itself and clean the carpet.

Ms. Theron’s dress offered a change on what draws the eye-gown needed a champagne tinge to suit her better.

I almost wish the female attendees had messenger bags as the clutches just add more gravity to their stance. The dresses mostly hinder movement-need some 21st century style changes to offer movement and comfort in same outfits.

You forgot Kirsten Dunst’ s Star Wars gown!
