Bring some freshness into your fall wardrobe with this greenery-filled collection. Sporty dresses, a cozy cardigan, and separates to layer with boots start the season right. These designs are from the October 2014 issue of Burda Style magazine.

_105

The Long Sleeve Cowl Neck Dress is a closet essential. Stretch jersey skims the body and makes fitting a breeze. The neckline is a softly draping cowl style, perfectly cozy for fall.

_102

An oversized Long Cardigan is essential for fall. A voluminous body has narrow set-in sleeves for a cozy fit. Wear with skinny jeans, slim skirts, or a slip dress.

_110

Carefully placed gathers shape the neckline of the Portrait Neck Jersey Tee. It’s a more dressed up take on a basic long sleeved tee.

_106A

Make this Pleated Skirt less than basic with floral gabardine or soft imitation leather. It’s not too long or too short, so you can tuck in any kind of top.

_101b

Break up two different patterns in the Long Sleeved Paneled Dress, or color block two fall shades. The panels give the effect of a jacket and wide belt. The full skirt is pretty for casual evenings.

_103

A soft and comfy Long Sleeve Cowl Tee that you can dress up or down. Tuck this cowl neck top into a skirt or cut it longer and wear with leggings.

_109 and 107

Soften up a Short Biker Jacket with jacquard and gabardine inserts. It’s a tough silhouette with side panels to flatter a woman’s figure. Pair them with the unusual Flared Cropped Pants. They’re more unusual than the standard cropped skinnies.

_113

Buy rib knit fabric to make a snuggly Drape Cardigan in a snap. Draping fronts look cool and are nice to cuddle up in on chilly days. This piece makes your outfit.

_114a

A true Wrap Tunic. This long top or short dress is just the right length to wear with leggings or heavy tights. A great beginner friendly garment project!

Lots of jersey and knit are the basis of this comfy-cute collection. They’ll take you from apple picking to a day at the office, and are perfect for layering with fall staples like boots, skinny jeans, and leggings.

Happy sewing!

Fabric and print choices are not very complimentary to the cuts at all!

I don’t understand some of the posts here, you are using a pattern to use your own fabric.. whats to care about the print they used. You wont use that fabric.. sigh

lol! yeah, welcome to the Burdastyle comments. I always just use the line drawings to figure out if I want to make something, but every once in a while I’ll comment on the fabric if it’s really pretty :)

Have to say I am not a fan of the fabric choice in this story at all. But seriously love the panelled dress and cowl neck dress (although I’d make the skirt more a-lined).

The panel dress really is something that will either be brilliant with the right fabric or terrible with the wrong fabric, there’s no in between.

You really have to look at the line drawings to see the style of the pieces with so much print and I love print, but maybe someone took this too far. Also this girl is such a twig. What happened to using realistic sized women?

I actually thought two cowl neck tops was overkill, but these are both very pretty.

    The cropped pants are adorable.

The long sleeve panel dress is my favorite. It would be so gorgeous in a really subtle ombre colorblocking.

The pleated skirt would be super cute in pincord. Hmmmmmm, so many ideas!

Me too! It was the first time in a long time that I didn’t rush out to get the magazine.
Can’t wait for the new issue.

      Love that colourblock dress.

Same! I just didn’t like anything in that issue either. I had a look through and even after discounting fabric choices I didn’t like the whole lot had nothing to inspire and the only mag I hadn’t got since starting buying.

Oh well, is it me or this collection is a disaster? When too much is like not enough… I’m talking about the prints.

No you are not the only one I don’t like the prints either nor do I like the long sleeve cowl. It may look better in a fabric with more body but here it just looks like it is ill fitting and kind of sloppy.

This is a great collection. Simple easy to wear pieces. I look forward to making that paneled dress and the long-sleeved cowl tee. Maybe even the pleated skirt.

Love, love, love the cowl neck dress. These are the kind of basics you should have more of.
