As we hit the first full week of October, we’re reminded that fall is officially here and the countdown to Halloween is on! Jo-Ann Fabrics and Simplicity have teamed up again this year for their Halloween Costume Contest with a grand prize of $1,000 for the best overall costume (other prizes include 5, $500 and 6, $250 winners). Even if you’re not planning on attending a Halloween event, don’t forget about entering your Ren-Fest style garments or costumes you’ve made for children or even pets. Check here for complete entry rules and a down-loadable entry form.

I am saddenned that I could not enter this years Costume Contest. A working woman, five costumes to attempt and I waited to the last hour to enter on-line. The above is my doing.

    HOWEVER

On the hard copy entry form I picked up from Jo Ann Fabric store. the Max for on-line pics is written as …..3MB….. The site denied all my entries because they were over ….1MB….

Too late to redress, take new pics.

    Not fair!!!!!!

I have never put in a zipper before or sewn sleeves or gathered material or lined anything. I have never made a dress before ! Let alone a Peplum, which I never heard of before and a hat. This was all an attermpt at reworking my self and the completed items give me inner satisfaction.

Simplicity and JoAnn, I am diappointed in the companies not being clear, or was it a way to cut back on the entrants, OOOOHHH now that would be dirt play.. Changing up photographic limits are not an easy thing to alter at the Eleventh hour.

How many entrants thought thier entries went through not noticing the little notice about Max MB.

I am proud of my accomplishments and creativity I accomplished in my costumes.

I am disappointed I was not given a chance.

    Sincerely, Krista MArie Prae

I wish it wasn’t only for Simplicity patterns, because I’d really like to enter. I’m already done making my costume and half way through making another, but with a Kwik Sew pattern.

Again, sorry to complain again btw, would you PLEASE just simply include in the promotion of competitions that they are for US residents only? It would be so easy for you to do that, and really really kind and considerate to us international members. I’m really beginning to doubt that this is an international site. Since many of the most active members are in fact NOT American, the team should really pay more consideration to the international members. And perhaps listen to critique and learn… Again, sorry to complain, but this feels like an important detail that doesn’t require much effort to improve.
