Rule the college campus in these preppy designs for fall. Cozy sweater coats, slim pants, and adorable dresses make the grade for A+ style. These designs are from the November 2013 issue of Burda Style magazine.

You’ll stand out from the campus crowd in this unique Jacquard Bomber Jacket. Bomber jackets are so fun to wear, and this one has preppy style in a silky print. The shorter silhouette works well with casual outfits like jeans and flats.

This little Cowl Sheath Dress is simply elegant. A drapey cowl neck is a fun modern touch to the perfect sixties sheath. A houndstooth or check print and opaque tights really add to the retro feel.

This high waisted Straight Skirt gives you a clean, long silhouette. The unique construction is figure flattering, and is fitted with a little flutter at the back for a modern take on the kick pleat.

Cozy grandpa cardigans aren’t just for knitters! This Cocoon Cardigan wraps you in warmth, so you can wear your flirty dresses all year round. Just slip on this sweater and a pair of tights.

Boyfriend blazers are fun, but this feminine Tie Blazer is just the thing to pair with skirts and sheath dresses. The waist sash really pulls this cute blazer together.

Warm up a chilly classroom or office in this cozy Sweater Coat. This piece is fully lined for a a luxurious winter warmer.

A bright print gives these Everyday Trousers a little something extra to brighten your step. You’ll want them in bold patterns for every season, because this straight legged shape looks good with a variety of tops.

What could make an easy winter accessory better? Pockets! This draft-it-yourself scarf can be wrapped so many ways for a fun winter look, and is designed to double as a head covering. Pockets keep your hands extra toasty. In charcoal or a navy stripe, this pattern would look just as good on a man.

This Blouse has a high crew neck and cuffed sleeves that look so elegant and grown-up. Wear this demure blouse on exam or interview day with a skirt and kitten heels. The back neckline features a little keyhole for fit.

A gathered skirt makes this Dress look so sweet, and the paneled bodice fits your figure perfectly. This is a great day dress to keep you looking fresh and pretty all through your classes and into the evening!

A few preppy collegiate pieces are essentials in anyone’s wardrobe. Mix and match these fall pieces with boyfriend jeans and loafers for an east coast look, or button up with proper knee socks and a headband.

Happy sewing!

Now THAT’s what I’m talking about! I never comment on the collection releases because nothing has excited (or disappointed) me enough to contribute…until now. Each of these patterns inspires me to finally get off (or rather ON) my ass for some fall/winter wardrobe sewing. Haven’t sewn any garments since last spring (paused to grow and make a baby), but this collection might get me back into the game.

Well done, BurdaStyle. You crushed it this time.

I haven’t bought a Burda Magazine in quite a while, but this collection did it for me. It’s ordered, and I’m looking forward to having it arrive in the mail.

This is one of my favorite collections – that last dress is beautiful. The slim pants and pencil skirt are devine and the grandpa cardi looks lovely! Looking forward to the Nov 13 edition!

I have to say that I love every single pattern in this collection. I recognize the blouse from an earlier release in the shiny fabric…. but this fabric choice is so much nicer! The skirt, the pants… everything! i can’t wait to get my issue in the mail…. :))
