Now that the bulk of the holidays are over, it’s time to focus in on the New Year. For many of us that means making New Year’s resolutions – some personal, some sewing. Every year I strive to work on something new – whether a new technique or perfecting a skill (this almost always includes better fitting and pattern alterations for me) and take the time to reflect on what I’ve accomplished over the year (I created a ‘diary’ to help me easily look back on what I have done). How about everyone else? Do you make resolutions? Reflect on your year’s sewing? Make a collage of your work over the past 12 months?

2011 is my year to sew….. I plan to tackle the mountain of fabric I have stashed, participate in more contest ( bring them on Burda) and fine-tune my sewing skills by taking a few classes. Thanks to Burda blog I’ve already got my first project lined up, the full circle skirt and the perfect fabric in my stash. Stay tuned for pictures……

I want to continue taking time for myself in the sewing/crafting department! I started out okay this year, but didn’t stick to the plan as I hoped. Next year is going to be about enjoying life and crafting more!

Well last year my goal was to expand my sewing knowledge. Here’s what I did: First I found alot of great sewing blogs to follow which had alot of great sewing tips and tutorials. I did the Lady Grey Coat Sew Along with Gertie’s New Blog For Better Sewing learned so much great tailoring knowledge! A new fabric shop opened in my area (Just Make It Sew) I took a Little Black Dress pattern making class and learned to make my own pattern! it was great fun. 2011 I want to continue adding to my sewing knowledge. For Christmas I receive two of Claire Shaffer books – I’m interested in couture sewing techniques. I’m attending a sewing retreat in Feb with my ASG group a weekend of sewing your own projects with guest speakers dropping by. I also have a trip to NYC in January so I’m planning on shopping in the garment district and taking Lindsay T’s advice from her Shopping the Garment District blog. Happy New Year!!

I’m teaching myself to knit this year, going to try to put together a collection to sell, and try to take my apparel further by using this dress form (her name is Betty!).

I also want to get to 100 followers on my blog!
