This week, Refinery29 sheds a humorous light on becoming the next biggest blogger. From dressing the part to choosing your blog self-portrait pose— this guide is sure to make you giggle, if not give you the gumption to start blogging.

Great taste, a solid camera, a little charm, and some handy html know-how…yes, it takes way more than just that to become a style blogger. The internet’s become inundated with thousands of Dot Coms of the style persuasion, and your blog’s gotta have some serious mojo in order to be the next Style Rookie, Sea of Shoes, or Fashion Toast. But, that’s not to say that there isn’t a certain recipe for success—in fact, we’ve mapped out a step-by-step guide to taking the style blogger world by storm AND rising to the top.

Here’s how!

I enjoyed reading the post and mentally started to make changes to flow diagram for sewing blogs. Are you a… • Cute young thing, with beginning sewing skills, looks good in anything. • Experienced, but average looking sewist – willing to share fitting changes for imperfect body. Professional dressmaker/costumer/ tailor, • Garment manufacturer professional – “here’s how it’s done by the industry using these specialized machines, which you don’t have”, • Online retailer of fabric, patterns, etc. – look what I made using my ________ (fill in blank with items sold at their site)

    Site meter growth

Have regular giveaways Start sew alongs, Ask weekly discussion questions

Know when you have made it .

Asked to write book or articles for Threads magazine,

Thanks! I wish you’d intertwined your paintings gallery with your sewing creations…on a blog too! The blogosphere is really cluttered with style editorial stuff, so it is high time to question and push the blog- as a concept – further :)!

Maybe we could have a blog together :). I like the idea of sewing and painting blog, but it´s quite hard for me to find the time to blog… (I already have a small blog in czech, but I´m not motivated enough to write often…)
