My Grab-it magnetic pin cushion!

definitely my wrist pin cushion. Without it, I couldn’t sew a thing without leaving stick pins all over the place.

A tape measure and square ruler – although before I got that I just used the tape measure and a big hardback book – so I think the tape measure wins.

As the days become shorter, I am aware of how much I value good lighting, so my choice has to be the ott light that sits next to my sewing table.

Another vote for the seam-ripper as the most indispensable thing ever. This must be why I own so many of them.

I have a pin cushion “ring” that is perfect for moving between the ironing board and sewing machine. My pins don’t end up in little piles everywhere.

My scissors are like my best friend. I couldn’t sew if I couldn’t cut out my pattern pieces. I also use them to push out corners when lining, or making collars. My machine doesn’t have a thread cutter, so I always have to have my scissors on hand. Other than my scissors, I love my iron. Makes hems that much easier! Projects go so much faster with an iron. In making a ton of Christmas presents this year I’ve been using one of those things that look like pliers and you squeeze to add snaps. Great tool, but I cannot remember what it’s called!

Pins and needles. I do use my seam ripper a lot, but I’ve also used the edge of a sharp pair of scissors for that; nothing replaces pins and needles!

Sadly, my seam ripper, though it doesn’t get as much use as it used to :)
Dec 11, 2009, 05.06 PMby eyeofthebeholder
Hmmm….I can rip seams with a pin, cut with other items, sew without pins, OOOH I know what I can’t do without! My IRON!

I could not live without my hand sewing needles. From simple button replacement to couture finishing on my garments, I use them almost as much as my sewing machine needles.
