There are so many tools available now like the rolled hem foot — but my favorite is the cone thread holder my husband made for me. The one we purchased broke pretty easily, so the two of us designed one with a block of wood and a dowel inserted into it. It is perfect! I really need a new iron though, my last one died when the cat jumped on the ironing board (the iron was off, thank goodness) and knocked it to the floor where it fell into pieces!

I do a lot of costuming and this sounds like it would be a dream to have in the workroom. The new technology that is coming out especially in irons is amazing. Remember the rule, press, press, press. It really does make a difference in the way things turn out.

the open studio where I sew has the oliso irons like you can win here – they are fantastic! I am sometimes scatterbrained, so a “smart” iron is a very good thing.

It’s a simple thing, but I find my clear-covered bobbin trays a big help. Seeing all the different colors lined up in a row makes it much quicker to find the right one. Before I had them, all my bobbins were rattling around loose in a drawer.

My sewing machine is my most useful tool! I started out with my late husbands grandmothers sewing machine that he gave me so that I could make our daughter’s Halloween costumes, she was 2yrs at the time. As much as it was supposed to speed up the process, I struggled through trying to get it to work properly (old old Singer). Then after 5 yrs my current husband gave me a brand new Janome machine, I Never Knew that a sewing machine could be that easy to use! I love my machine! My other tools that are awesome and new are my rotary cutter & mat. With those three I can work magic!

Different types of Presser Feet make specific projects easier. I recently was sewing a leather skirt and using the leather presser foot helped by not damaging the skin and allowing it to feed smoothly. There are a bunch of other feet that are great too like the rolled hem foot or the binding foot or ribbon or elastic attachment foot etc.
