My plan for the new year is to make majority of my own clothing without purchasing ready-to-wear clothes. Also upcycling my kid’s old clothes so they can last longer! My brother just requested a sturdy & somewhat water-repellant jacket/pullover for his work,,,and a list of clothing needs from my hubby!!! To do all these I actually need to spend more time focusing on sewing and learning new techniques. These pushes me into reading more books/blogs/forums, and I do learn a lot from them.

I plan to use the Built By Wendy Dresses book and create all 25 projects for 25 different ladies. Each lady is allowed to give suggestions of what they would like to see in their dress. The only rule I have is that they let me take a photo shoot of them in the finished piece for my blog. I think this will be a huge challenge and will be an invaluable learning experience for me….not to mention fun too.

It’s summer down-under and I’m making super light cover-up shirts and trousers for my 18 month old grandson. The ozone layer above New Zealand has a hole in it, so we get sunburned VERY quickly. We want the kids to play outdoors all summer but sun protection is a challenge. Sunscreen has questionable chemical properties and sand sticks to it! So if these muslin sun-outfits work out – maybe I’ll even start selling them…

I’m looking for the right faux fur fabric to make the Yeti-coat featured in the dec/2010 Burda – in my mind I see it as an Anita Pallenberg kind of coat. Also, I’m planning to make the house robe from the last Burda issue, because it’s quite cold in my new appartment – cosy and stylish, yes please!

I learned to sew from a Burda pattern. The book looks great and I would love to have it. Burda is the best for sewers! I plan to make some porch pillows for swings and wicker furniture. Got to sit comfortably on your front porch down here in Dixie! Would like to work on some fashions for my teenager too.

I plan on making 75% of my clothing in the next year. I’ve been slowly making the percentage grow over the past couple of years. It feels so great to make my own clothing/designs (with the help of screen printing/fabric dying).
