I am going to make a suit for my husband….3 piece, lined! I have never made a man’s suit, but I did make a suit for myself once. I have the book, Classic Tailoring Techniques: A Construction Guide for Men’s Wear to guide me. Plus I am reading Bespoke – Savile Row Ripped and Smoothed by Richard Anderson. It has some fabulous hints embedded in the story and a glossary of tailoring term in the back of the book. After my husband’s suit I plan to make a wrap dress for myself.

I’m just a beginner so for a new year I’ve collected quite a bunch of BWOF patterns. I dream of making almost every piece of garment: pants, shorts, dress (day, evening, summery, warm…), skirt, coat, etc. I want to learn a lot during next year!

My main goal is to create adapted basics for my “not off the shelf” figure (tall, curves, etc.). So far I have nearly finished a shell top pattern and skirt yoke, which I am hoping to develop during 2012. And I’d love to make some 60’s style colour blocked shift dresses with the great stash of purple, emerald green and yellow poly crepe that I got at a house clearance.

One thing I definately want to make, is a 50s dress. That’s been fascinating me quite long. Don’t know where I’m going to wear it, though, but that’s my dream. Then, I’d like to make a felt-coat with national pattern embroidery. And the third definite thing I’d like to sew is a black pencil skirt. I hope to make many things besides above mentioned, though.
