What an adorable bag! Burda is style! I have inspired someone to start sewing. When my daughter was little, I sewed many dresses for her, and a friend was inspired to make some for her daughter. I taught her how to sew using fabric and patterns she brought to me, and we spent many happy hours dressing our girls.

I’m not certain. I don’t teach sewing, and my garments don’t really attract attention.

I don’t know if I ever inspired someone else to sew, at least not yet, but I was definitely inspired by my mother, who made a lot of our clothes when we were kids. She also makes fabulous Halloween costumes. Now that I am a mother, I want to do the same for my son. This year I sewed my first Halloween costume. He loves it! Then again, he isn’t quite 2…so, he’s pretty easily impressed.

My cousins saw some stuff I’ve made (a pair of shorts and a purse). They all wished they could sew, and at least one of them has already fulfilled that wish.

Yes, after I made kilts for my guy friends, a number of my friends wanted to learn how to sew. While they learned sewing from others, I taught them how to crochet and knit.

Yep, I did! Two of my twenty-something friends. Just like me, they relearned sewing which they used to do in their teenage years. Things we found so ordinary in the past find a new and important value today.

Yes. My sister-in-law liked the clothes I made so she went out and bought a sewing machine. I gave her several of my patterns and some fabric so she could get started sewing right away.

When I wear the things I’ve made, often people will find out that I made them and then they usually will tell me that they wish they could sew. I tell them that they can. Some of them have been inspired to start and they are great sewers now. You gotta spread the love.

I was inspired by my best friend and stepson to start sewing (she helped me make an apron for him!) But as far as inspiring other people, not really, although I know I have inspired my sister to start talking about it!

I don’t know. I may eventually inspire my son – but at the moment, I think sewing holds his fascination because my machine plugs in and goes “round and round”. (He’s 4) I know that my projects have occasionally inspired other sewers/quilters to start a new project or re-work their project with a new technique. But no one from scratch. (yet!) Sewing was one of those things we had to learn (just as my mom had to learn, just as my granny had to learn, etc.). I’m the only one of the three of us kids who still sew, though. (even though mom taught us all, and we all took home ec, even my brother). I’m o.k. with not knowing who I inspire. So long as I get to enjoy it!

I hope so. I help teach 4-H children to quilt and am trying to convince them that they CAN make clothing.

Good question! I’ve been personally inspired by many people. My mom taught me when I was young, and now I read blogs to keep me going. I hope someday I can inspire somebody.

I have inspired my daughter to start sewing. She is 16 and sews better than me now. She wanted to make a bunch of stuff and they were simple to make so I handed her the supplies and told her to have at it.

I did all handmade gifts this Christmas, and inspired a friend of mine to do the same! Every time we talk on the phone over the last 2-3 weeks, we discuss what projects we’re working on/finished.
