I live in a junior one-bedroom apartment and I do not have a sewing room. There just is not enough room for it. To compensate I have set up the end of my living room as a sewing corner. I keep all of my fabrics and notions organized in plastic storage boxes on a large bookcase, and I have my sewing machine and computer set up on two desks. To maximize work space I have an adjustable wall lamp over each table that I can angle over each area to illuminate my work. An antique dining room table which has four (4) leaves and expands from a seating for four to a seating for 12, which I inherited from my grandmother, works as a great area to lay out my fabric without braking my back. Overall, the space works pretty well … as long as I keep it organized.

Unfortunately, I do not have a dedicated sewing area. I have portable tables for my sewing/embroidery machine and my laptop, mannequins and closet organizers to keep everything in place neatly. My fabric is on shelves in the basement and my Bernina storage cabinet is in the garage. When I move this spring, I will consolidate everything into one space.

I share my husband’s office. I like it because I can close the door to the mess and not worry about picking up if I’m not finished.

I have a combined office/sewing room, thank goodness! That wasn’t always the case… I used to have to use the diningroom table and store fabric in our entryway. So nice to have my own space now!

I would love to have a dedicated space for my sewing, but for now I have to setup my machines on our dining room table. We use the table nightly, so I’m unable to leave my machines setup, I always have to pack everything up and clear off the table so we can eat!

I have space that I share in the guest room. It’s a good space that, for much of the year, is mine alone :) Someday, I hope to have a dedicated space just for crafts and sewing, but that will a long time in the future now that baby #2 is on the way!

I set up sewing shop in the dining room. I’d love a dedicated space, but there just isn’t any extra.

I sew in my living room, which doubles as my dining room, too. Luckily I live alone so I only have to put away my projects if I have company over. Otherwise, everything is everywhere!!

I love reading about everyone’s sewing situations. I’m very lucky, I have a dedicated room for sewing. If someone else lived in this house it would be the den. In addition, I store my fabric in closets in other rooms.

Sewing is so important to me. I can’t imagine if I had to put my projects away every day.

I have a somewhat dedicated place to sew—-in an enclosed patio. It is fine when the weather is mild but not so much fun when it is cold or hot.

I have a whole room for a sewing room. A table for cutting, one for the machines, a storage dresser, and space for an ironing board. I’ve been moving the space around lately so it is in disarray.

In years past I was in the dining room, the living room and the bedroom. For the past 5 years I’ve had my own sewing room (well I share it with the computer). It is absolutely wonderful. A beautiful periwinkle on the walls, Ikea furniture, including a large wardrobe. I feel so fortunate after so many years, just trying to carve out a space.

Well, I have recently moved and I am creating a space for myself and my sewing machine and all kinds of fun and inspirational notions, fabrics, trims patterns etc. I have a wall of what would be considered a dining area- but in the meantime I have been going to my mom’s to sew in her dedicated sewing room-which I love.
