Kitchen sewing here!

Yes, I sew in the 2nd bedroom of my apartment. My guests get the comfy sofa bed. I work on a small re-purposed office desk that’s about 48"L x 24" W, where I’ve perched my serger, straight stitch and my hemmer. I’ve become very accustomed to sewing in tight spaces so it works for me. I’m surrounded by bins of fabrics and boxes of patterns, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I have a little sewing room right off the kitchen….it’s perfect! For years, all I had was a small corner in our trailer…..so having a little room just for sewing is awesome!

Not at this point I don’t. I mostly sew in my livingroom. I have a room out in the garage that I normally use for my crafts, but it’s in the middle of a reorganize that keeps getting put on hold because of health issues. I’ll get it finished one of these days though.

Not yet – I sew in my workroom with all my computer equipment in it, but my dear husband is in the middle of building me a sewing studio in the garden where I will be alble to have all my sewing things in one place – and the best part is that I can start with a blank piece of paper for the internal design! Woo-hoo!

i don’t really have a room to sew in, i study abroad, and i came home not very often, plus, my parents moved in another house not a long time ago, so i don’t even feel like home when i came here for holidays, my room only has a bed a chair and a desk, and my old Singer sewing machine is moved around the house. what i mean is that i sew everywhere. in my campus room (only small projects, that i sew with my hand, not using a sewing machine because i don’t have a small machine, and don’t really have so much space in there) or at my home, wherever my singer machine is. usually i draw the pattern on the floor in my room, or in my parents room, which is bigger.

I sew in the family room, which means clearing up after each sewing session. I look forward to having a sewing room one day….

The whole House is my sewing Room smiles I switch from room to room where I can fit in where I can get the most work done. With a 7 yr old and a 5 month old that’s tough some times, but it’s a work in process.

I made a sewing room in a “in-between” space between the stairwell and the bedrooms of my parents hoouse. I installed a table, put my sewing machine up and gratually the wall is becoming an inspirationboard. when I’m ironing my seems, I use a beach towel, double folded, and a miniture iron :-) so cute!!! I cut my paterns in the living room, with a whole lot of clutter to clean up every time!!! I hope that some day I will have a sewing room of my one so my mother doesn’t have to yell at me every time I want a break :-)
cheers, love the site!! best of luck to everybody in 2011

At present I am in the middle of a moving process, therefore I have no sewing room. It’s kind of a pit stop in an apartement while our house is ready. But in our house, an actual crafts room is planned. So I browse the web to find good organisation ideas :) Can’t wait when it’s all finished :)

I use our guestroom for my sewing projects. Each time anyone comes to live there it’s harder to make place for them :-) ( I mean the guests…)

I have a small attic room with sloped ceiling. With carefull planning I have been able to make as comfortable and workable as possible. I just need to remind myself to not make any quick movements or hit my head on the cement ceiling, ouch!

When my son is away at university, I install my sewing equipment in his room. He has a fantastic long worktop that is great for tracing off patterns and for supporting larger items during construction. Although I have to move out again whenever he returns home, I don’t mind because it’s good to have him back, More good thoughts – he is an Architecture student, so (in my dream world) when he graduates he could design us a house with a purpose-built sewing room :o)
