I mainly sew for customers and for gifts — but desperately need to set time aside to sew for myself! Then again, I think everyone who crafts should take time to create things of beauty just for themselves as well.

I use the people around my like guinea pigs to test my new ideas on, playing ‘dress up dolly’ with anyone who’ll let me. I dont think they mind much :p I much prefer the designing process to the manufacturing process I have to do with customers. In the end though, it’s all for myself. I wouldnt be doing it unless I loved it.

I have a very young family and I sew for them but mostly me, ha ha, when I can! Everyone else asks me to sew for them and I politely say no, as I know I hardly ever find time to sew for me and mine let alone others. I wish I had more time though, don’t we all?

I not only will sew anything for my family from home dec to school costumes but also for others in need. When my daughter was a Brownie and later a Girl Scout I offered to sew all the badges onto the girls vests since they were always M.I.A. After a few visits to the local One-Stop of Dept. of Labor, I learned that alot of the women from the “Misplaced Homemakers” groups would be receiving suits for their job interviews so I offered to perform all needed alterations for them at no cost. I truly enjoy putting my skills to work for others.
