To answer the question, Rutherford B Hayes was the US president and B Blumenthal was the button company founder. Buttons are amazing. I love my collection, rearrange them just to look at them and hate to use some of them in projects because I don’t want to give them away.

Rutherford B Hayes was president. Wow what a history! I love the website and def bookmarking it. I have loads of buttons in my collection. My mother’s sister who was sickly as a child only lived to be 12 but collected buttons from all over the world—people sent them to her. I played with them as a child at my Grandma’s house and later inherited the collection which is very special to me. Most of the buttons are from the 30s and 40s. I have made some jewelry out of them for my family members and also covered a large mirror frame with tthem. My Grandson loves to look at them too. I still remember where some of the buttons came from to this day. I love button jewelry and fun buttons on clothing too—-they add so much to garments and accessories and I cannot imagine being w/o them. I collect antique buttons as well and just love to look at them. Thank you for sharing some info that I didn’t know!
