October is already here which means it’s time for me to kick my Halloween sewing into high gear. If you’re planning on stitching up a few costumes this season, why not check out a few contests that you can enter your handmade creations into:

Probably one of the most unforgettable costumes I’ve ever seen was entered into last year’s DIY Halloween Costume Contest by Craftster. Think you can top that? Be sure to try your hand in their 2009 challenge.

Every year Instructables teams up with several other online sites and communities for their Halloween contest. At this time, rules for 2009 haven’t been posted, but the contest has been announced.

If you’re a member of Pattern Review, be sure to check out their 2009 Costume Contest. All costumes must be sewn during this month only and the grand prize winner will win a $100 gift certificate to Kai Scissors

Parenting.com is offering up a $500 gift card to Michael’s in their Homemade Halloween contest (and while you’re there, be sure to check out last year’s winner).

Think you have the coolest costume of 2009? Submit your entry into Coolest-Handmade-Costumes.com where you can win a $500 online shopping spree. Entries from around the world are welcome to enter.

Lovetosew.com’s ’Let’s Be Frank’ contest is open to sewers aged 6 years old and up and the costume (historical, fantasy, Hollywood, open, and pet) must be made by the person wearing it.

Know of more sewing contest running this month? Be sure to list them here in the comments section.
