Needle_sculpting_large

You can accent the features by adding dimension with needle sculpting. This is an easy and fun technique that uses a long needle and thread to make small indentations – we use it to highlight the eyes and cheeks and to make the dimples.

And finally, for the hair – the sky is the limit when choosing crowning glory for your doll. We use beautiful yarn, silk ribbon and even synthetic hair used for weaves. Ask for a ‘bulky’ weight of yarn – this will make a really nice head of hair. You can make hair bundles by creating about ten loops of yarn and tying them in the middle. The loops should be twice as long as your desired hair style. Then, sew the bundles onto the doll’s head at the knot using a curved needle. I like to use a lot of yarn because I like a thick head of hair. In Doll Fashionistas, I have another innovation to make fantastic doll hair quickly that can be worn long or short.
