The 55th annual Grammy Awards went down last night, and aside from all the musical talent we were most looking forward to the fashion! Celebrities go all out for this occasion, and this year we weren’t disappointed. Check out the BurdaStyle team’s favorite looks from the night.

Firstly, above we have Kimbra in designer Jaime Lee Major with fellow singer Gotye. Kimbra’s dress was a fashion risk, but we loved the sheer top and turquoise tulle.

Model Alexa Chung showed up in a more casual short dress, but we still loved it! She is wearing a yellow printed Valentino dress that suits her to a T.

Kelly Osbourne took a classic approach and strutted down the red carpet in a cut-out black gown by Paule Ka.

The men of the evening looked dapper as well! Here we have Drake looking put together in a bow tie and black and blue suit. Lookin’ good!

Another handsome man strolls down the carpet in a killer patterned tie! We are loving Diplo’s style and music.

Jamie’s favorite look of the evening was Rihanna’s red custom Azzedine Alaia dress.

Jillian loved Taylor Swift in this white J. Mendel gown. The metallic accents and her flirty halo braid made her pop!

Meg loved Florence Welch’s Givenchy gown. At first glance it looks like your typical sequined dress…but then you see almost reptile like horns adorning the dress, which is totally awesome and such a fashion risk!

Who was on your best/worst dress list?

I also really like Florence Welch she wore a fantastic gown and showed a real sense of effortless style steroids. The other dresses looked fine if somewhat predictable.

Loved Kimbra’s dress. It’s so streamlined with her usual performance costumes. Amazing. Only she can pull it off.

Absolutely loved Kimbra’s dress – I thought she looked fabulous. Mind you, I am a biased Aussie. Fantastic to see Gotye and Kimbra absolutely rock the red carpet. Good one Jamie Lee Major!

The first one is horrible… the second is sooooo boring, the green one is hideous… it is a pity the most beautiful gowns are not featured… no surprise

I really liked Adele’s, even though it was a bit nanna’s quirky curtains. I just thought it was a nice change that she wasn’t wearing slightly high-waist black satin with elbow-length sleeves like she normally does. Loved Rihanna’s and Solange Knowles, and liked Kelly Rowland’s sheer and cut-outs without trashiness, and Kimbra’s Tinkerbell playing in a dress-up box look. Didn’t like Beyonce’s or Katy Perry’s, I think both had potential but were better as ideas than in reality. Really didn’t like Florence Welch’s, but mostly because her lipstick choice is horrible!

I loved Adele’s dress and I love that she took a risk with the fabric. I think she looks fantastic and that she is such a beautiful woman as well. Considering that she is a new mum she is looking mighty fine. I also really like Florence Welch she wore a fantastic gown and showed a real sense of effortless style. The other dresses looked fine if somewhat predictable. I don’t like the skater look particularly so Kimbra’s outfit doesn’t really do it for me.

I actually squealed a little when I saw Adele’s dress. Loved the crazy floral print and the stiff skirt.

Drake’s trousers needed refitting! At least Wally’s (Gotye) pants were on the mark!

Agreed, they are far too long and baggy. See the Golden Globes for more of this odd style (and see Damian Lewis on how to do it properly).

Taylor Swift, Rhianna and Beyonce really nailed it, they all looked lovely elegant. (I’ve already figured out that I can use Vogue 7521 in white with some silver trim to recreate Taylor Swift’s look). And there were lots of cut out dresses like Kelly Osbourne’s. Florence, as always looked amazing.

I did not like Kimbra’s dress at all, it was hideous! And a close second for dresses I did not like was Adelle’s dress that had a pattern that belongs on a carpet or upholstery not a dress. The colour that Katy Perry wore did not suit her at all, the same dress in a jewel colour would have lit her up more. And being Australian I was a bit disappointed with Nicole Kidman’s rather boring dress, but I guess it was Keith Urban’s night, not hers!

I liked Beyonce’s outfit too. It was an interesting change from the sea of form fitting dresses.

I loved Kimbra’s dress, but honestly, I just LOVE Gotye. His animal teeth are a thing of beauty.

I know everyone hated it, but I loved Adele’s dress. I loved Katy Perry’s awesomely weird polyester looking 70s gown. I like Solange Knowles green dress too. Florence Welch was beautiful and Joan Osbourne’s yellow dress was pretty.

I don’t really like to focus on the worst dressed, but I didn’t like Nicole Kidman’s dress at all, and Alexa Chung’s dress seemed really off to me, too informal as well as wrong seasonally (which is a surprise for me, usually I love whatever she’s wearing).

IMHO, Adelle and Katy Perry’s dresses would have looked much nicer in different fabric. But that’s just me.
And totally agree on Nicole and Alexa!

@avjames you know, I think I liked the costumey-ness of both Adele and Katy Perry. I do realize Adele looked upholstered… but I still liked it ;D And I could see where Katy’s dress probably looked better in person since the color is an almost exact match for her pale green eyes.
