Nipped waists, full skirts, feminine charms….the woman is definitely back! For Fall 2010, Louis Vuitton, Fendi and Prada all celebrated La Dolce Vita, showcasing the finer aspects of the womanly sex and ushering in an era of full-skirted femininity that we’re sure to see carry over into the Spring season.

After seeing so many celebrities in teeny-tiny, barely there dresses, conservative full-skirts suddenly seem fresh and fashion-forward.

Marc Jacobs and Miuccia Prada single handedly revived the reign of the woman with their respective collections for Louis Vuitton and Prada by not only creating the silhouettes, but also by casting more womanly figured (at least by fashion standards) models for their shows and ad campaigns.

To tell you the truth, I don’t particularly like full skirts, at least not for myself… I’m just 1m48cm tall and they make me look shorter and … rounder!!!!

Great pics! I’ve always adored the feminine glamour of a full skirt, so retro Hollywood!

The last project I made was a flowing plaid skirt. I like full skirts because they don’t restrict movement and they flow about when I move. Plus they are flattering and don’t ride up when you sit down or bend (and the pockets don’t appear to bulge as much). If the waist fits properly they don’t move around as much either. I don’t think feminine shapes ever actually went out of fashion and I don’t think they ever will (or should)! : )

agreed. nothing is worse than having to adjust yourself everytime you stand up. full skirts are great for warmer weather too because they don’t cling.

Thanks for the inspirations and reasons to keep making skirts and dresses in my favorite silhoutte! I was absolutely in love with Louis Vuitton’s designs and fabrics this fall!

Very womanly, exept the one lady in the second picture up seems to be missing her boob. more realistic, but still heavily photoshoped.

This reaffirms my belief that everyone is OVER tiny tiny dresses that are seemingly designed for a very specific body style (and even then, still not looking so good…). Hooray for the return of the classic womanly silhouette!

I just finished my first full skirt today (can see it here at Burdastyle) – so I am glad to see this article :-) And it made me more selfconfident about the length and my full hips ;-)

I agree, a style that suits my shape much better. My last three dresses had full circle skirts!
