John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Gareth Pugh, Antony Price, Junya Wantanabe, Maison Martin Margiela, and Yohji Yamamoto – Seven Designer Patterns Available

Patterns are available for free download for either a home printer or copy shop printing. It looks like these designs were released as part of a competition from 2009, but luckily for you they’re still available for download!

If you’re up for a challenge, try out these avante garde designs. It’s sure cheaper than buying a designer piece from the store!

A preview of the Alexander McQueen pattern…

We tested out the 2 printing options, and we decided that we would prefer printing these patterns at a copy shop. The tiling process is tricky as there are not markings for connecting the pages (like on BurdaStyle patterns).

Any idea what size the McQueen jacket is or how much fabric it calls for? I’m itching to try it out!

I’ve been wondering, if anyone has made them, what size are the patterns? There’s only one size, and it’d be interesting to know if they will end up way too big before putting loads of work into it…?

The Yamamoto jacket is only one size. I’m a Burda 42 and it fits me just fine. I’d say if you were a few sizes bigger or smaller it’d be okay, too, as it’s quite a voluminous shape. You may need to adjust the snap placement or add a bit of girth to the sleeves though (it’d be really easy to add to the sleeves since they’re just rectangles).

Thank you for the reply, squirrelpoo! It’s such a great help to have a size-reference before jumping into it :-).
I’ve wanted to try the McQueen-one for a while, if I ever find the time… and already printed and began to prepare the Yamamoto-pattern (looooads of work cutting + sticky tape:ing…)

That Yamamoto jacket is fantastic, btw. Loads of people have made it, and I made mine about 4 years ago now and I’ve worn it to death. A really great and stylish pattern that’s really easy to sew together once you get the “ah-ha!” moment. :)
