1.Where are you from and/or where do you live?

I was born in St. Louis, Missouri and when I was 8 moths old, my family moved to Phoenix, Arizona.

2. What was the 1st thing you made? How did you start sewing?

I can’t remember exactly the first thing I sewed because I started learning at a very young age. I believe it was a stuffed animal kitty that came in a beginners sewing kit. I remember how impatient I was sewing it because I didn’t use a sewing machine. I learned how to hand-sew first. But what really got me started sewing was when I sewed my first purse without a pattern. I was 11 or 12 and I was sitting in the car, and my dad, in the drivers seat, asked me if I made the purse I was wearing. I thought his question was absolutely ridiculous, but then I thought; wait a second, maybe I could make a purse like this! So I got to work right away and I made a pretty good looking purse for a 12-year-old who had no pattern or directions. I also started sewing stuffed bear clothes for my sister and friends. I have been sewing, designing, creating, and learning ever since!

3. What role does sewing play in your life?

It is my number one passion and hobby. I love how much of my own creativity i can express through sewing. It is a way for me to relax. When I’m sewing, I forget about everything around me. I love being able to make a gift for my friends and giving it to them for no reason. Since I’m still in high school, it’s kinda like an escape from homework! When I’m not sleeping or doing school I am either cutting out fabric, or sitting in front of my sewing machine. I just love sewing!

4. What is your favorite and what is your least favorite thing about sewing?

My favorite thing is seeing the end product. I always put so much time into my projects because I am a perfectionist. Seeing my hard work pay off is really satisfying. My least favorite thing is how much patience and time sewing takes! I am hardly a patient person so sometimes I can get a little frustrated and I never seem to have enough time to do what I love -sew!

5. If you could make something for anyone who would it be and what would you make?

I’ve never really thought of this question before! For right now I’m just going to pick the first person who pops into my head. I would make something for the musician, Regina Spektor. I just love her music, and her style of clothing which is very vintage 50’s looking. I would sew her a lovely 50’s style polka-dot dress for her to wear at one of her concerts!

6. What are you looking for on our site? What do you think should be improved and what do you really like?

I look for lots of inspiration and ideas on BurdaStyle. Seeing other peoples creations really motivates me to finish my projects and start new ones! I can’t think of much that should be improved with the website, but maybe you could add some more how-to’s for more advanced sewers. I’m always looking for new techniques and sewing skills! I really like how organized the website is. I can always find what I’m looking for.

7. What is your motto?

My motto is to give God the glory in everything I do. He gave me my creativity and without Him, I would not be where I am today!
