Where are you from and/or where do you live now? What do you do other than sewing?
I’m from a small village near the city of Bergamo, North of Italy. I studied History of Art at Milan University and “Tailoring for Showbiz” at Teatro alla Scala Academy. I’ve also worked in Rome for a few weeks at a costume house that are preparing costumes for a Turandot opera. My plan, though, is to open my own handmade shop. That’s my dream!
How did you start sewing?
Both my parents are artists. I grew up surrounded by crafters of all sorts.

A young Arianna!
Apparel has [always] been my obsession. I remember perfectly my preferred childhood clothes: a red coat and a Mickey Mouse t-shirt! A chest full of all kind of costumes (carnival costumes, old clothes, etc.) was one of my favorite things to play [in]!

Little Arianna in her favorite red coat.
I started to sew clothes 3 years ago, and since then I’ve been a sewaholic. I work at all hours and everywhere: on the train, watching TV, and on my lunch break!
What’s your favorite project in your BurdaStyle studio?
My favorite project at my Burdastyle studio is “Grafico." I fell in love with the fabric.

Describe your personal style in 5 words or less!
Romantic…comfortable and “clean”.

Do you have a style icon who inspires your sewing projects? Where do you go to get inspired?
“When you have eyes to see…” – it’s an Italian idiom. Inspiration is all around us!
Nature, old family photos, flea markets, movies, paintings, illustrations, music icons, museums, people,…Japanese tourists in Milan (ok, I admit, I love the Japanese aesthetic!).

The best place to find new ideas is my absolute favorite fabrics shop. I also love these sites:
What time of year do you find yourself most creative? Why?
I don’t have a favorite season to sew, though maybe at summer I sew just a little bit less. Summer is so short!
Tell us about your sewing experience.
I love rock and hard-rock music, but when I sew I listen to Italian music from the Sixties (preferably melodramatic)
I work at home. Luckily, I have a big room only for my sewing things (I’m a very [disorganized] seamstress)! I plan to organize [my workshop] and my next purchase will be a professional sewing machine.

What is your dream sewing project?
I love children’s clothes. My sewing-dream is to create the wardrobe of my future children.

How long have you been a member of BurdaStyle?
I’ve been a member of BurdaStyle since December 2009. When I have enough time, I visit the site daily. It is is fantastic that I can be connected with such a passionate and international sewing community, especially when you live in a small country. My only regret is not speaking [enough] English!

What is the most frustrating thing about sewing for you?
The most frustrating sewing thing is making a mistake with an overlock!

Ciao! piacere, mi chiamo Morena, non so assolutamente cucire e vivo a Londra! Al momento il mio scopo e’ quello di creare un semplice vestito anni 60 come questo qui http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/hannahs-madeline-shift ma non so quale sia la giusta pattern! Ti sarei grata se mi potessi aiutare!
Morena
p.s. il tuo inglese va benissimo! Il mio italiano se ne sta andando…
